The IBM Sustainability Accelerator supports communities vulnerable to environmental challenges. Nonprofit and governmental organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for tech-driven projects advancing resilient cities. The Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) supports scientists of Asian nationality who are conducting water research. Research topics include technologies for water/wastewater treatment, water quality analysis, sustainability of water environment sanitation, water ecosystem, and agricultural water use – among other themes. Grants are up to ¥ 300 thousand per research project. Applicants should be under age 40. The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean invites young Caribbean entrepreneurs (18-34 years) to submit innovative water-related project ideas to the Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition. Project ideas should focus on water resources management in the Caribbean region and focus on one of five thematic areas: (1) Water and Climate; (2) Water and Agriculture; (3) Water and Health; (4) Water and Energy; (5) Water and Tourism. The Stockholm Water Prize is awarded annually for outstanding achievements supporting the availability, conservation, and protection of the world’s water resources. The award is open to individuals and organizations of any nationality whose work contributes broadly to the conservation and protection of water resources. The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 6 seeks to support solutions that work to achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all, paying special attention to the needs of rural communities in developing economies. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12 months of mentorship from Reckitt professionals. The King Baudouin Foundation supports projects of Belgian organizations working in countries in the southern hemisphere to improve access to water. The Elisabeth and Amélie Fund supports initiatives in Africa, Latin America, and Asia to improve local community access to water sustainably. The 2024 call focuses on school sanitation projects with a hygiene education component. The foundation provides funding of up to €50 thousand. The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) launches a new call for proposals. Projects should focus on sustainable water management to combat land degradation and desertification and promote ecosystem restoration. Up to four projects will receive up to €4.1 million each for 36 months. Companies, enterprises, non-profit organizations, NGOs, public research organizations, and universities from the following non-EU countries are eligible: Israel, Tunisia, Turkey, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco. The MIT Water Innovation Prize is a startup competition focused on water innovation. Submitted projects must involve a technology, product, service, or process aimed at solving a problem related to the world’s water challenges. Entering teams must include at least one student who is fully enrolled at any college or university. There are no restrictions regarding nationality. The International Water Association (IWA) focuses on developing solutions for water and wastewater management. IWA invites applications for the IWA Global Water Award. The award recognizes the exceptional contribution made by an individual to improve sustainable water and sanitation globally by creating an innovative water solution/management practice that impacts broader sustainable development. The Mülheim Water Award honors practice-oriented research and development projects as well as the implementation of innovative concepts for a secure drinking water supply and water analysis. People or institutions from Europe (geographically defined, not politically) can apply with innovative procedures, products, concepts and new findings with a strong focus on practical use and application within water management.
