The African Water Association awards research scholarships to young African Water and Sanitation Professionals. Each scholarship has a maximum value of US$1,000 and must be used to carry out research work sanctioned by a scientific report on a theme related to the WASH sector. DeserTech launches a challenge competition to bring water technology to rural villages in Africa. The winning technology will get a sponsored Proof of Concept (POC) with Innovation:Africa. Innovation: Africa provides clean water to remote villages by drilling into the borehole and pumping water throughout rural areas. DeserTech is looking for off-grid, low-maintenance Israeli technologies that provide safe drinking water to villages. Submissions should tell stories of how people come together to improve water resources, celebrate life and value nature. Three winners will receive a cash prize. The Young Water Fellowship Program aims to empower young leaders from the developing world to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. The program offers intensive training, seed grants up to €5 thousand for projects, and mentoring support by senior experts during one year. Applications are currently invited from individuals ages 18-30 who are residents of the low and middle-income countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean invites project proposals for the implementation of small-scale integrated water and wastewater management capacity building projects in the Caribbean. Funding of US$5 thousand per grant will be awarded to successful applicants, for the execution of capacity building programs with a maximum of five months in duration. The Embassy of Japan in Mozambique provides financial assistance to non-profit organizations in support of Basic Human Needs, including Water and Sanitation. The maximum grant amount per project is 10 million yen (approx. US$66 thousand). Potential recipients are community-based nonprofit organizations that implement development projects at grass-roots level (NGOs, educational institutions, local governments, etc.). The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announces the Madagascar Urban Sanitation Project. USAID/Madagascar aims to engage eligible partners to expand water and sanitation in urban areas. USAID anticipates supporting one award of up to US$10 million over five years. The International Water Resources Association (IWRA) invites applications for the World Water Envoys Program. Water Envoys will have the opportunity to participate in the 18th edition of the IWRA World Water Congress (China, September 2023) to discuss water issues and potential solutions. Envoys will be funded to come to Beijing, including economy round-trip, accommodation, full registration to the Congress, and one-year free membership to IWRA. The Global Freshwater Innovation Challenge seeks innovative solutions to conserve and restore freshwater ecosystems. HCL has committed $15 million over five years to support water focused entrepreneurs. The first year’s challenge will focus on water quality restoration and ecosystem resilience. Eligibility extends to impact-oriented start-ups with pilot projects, social enterprises with sustainable business models, and businesses ready to scale. The last date to apply is 08 November 2022. The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) invites applications to the workshop “To Save the Water…Let’s Talk About Shit”. The workshop will focus on the roles of Youth and the Media in Caribbean Wastewater Management. Participation is open to Caribbean Youth and Journalists residing in Caribbean countries. As part of the workshop, participants will also be given the opportunity to create social media content to raise awareness amongst the wider public.
