USAID/Madagascar aims to engage eligible partners to expand water and sanitation in urban areas. USAID anticipates supporting one award of up to US$10 million over five years. The International Water Resources Association (IWRA) invites applications for the World Water Envoys Program. Water Envoys will have the opportunity to participate in the 18th edition of the IWRA World Water Congress (China, September 2023) to discuss water issues and potential solutions. Envoys will be funded to come to Beijing, including economy round-trip, accommodation, full registration to the Congress, and one-year free membership to IWRA. The Global Freshwater Innovation Challenge seeks innovative solutions to conserve and restore freshwater ecosystems. HCL has committed $15 million over five years to support water focused entrepreneurs. The first year’s challenge will focus on water quality restoration and ecosystem resilience. The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) invites applications to the workshop “To Save the Water…Let’s Talk About Shit”. The workshop will focus on the roles of Youth and the Media in Caribbean Wastewater Management. Participation is open to Caribbean Youth and Journalists residing in Caribbean countries. As part of the workshop, participants will also be given the opportunity to create social media content to raise awareness amongst the wider public. The European Commission (EC) offers grants to prevent and minimize marine and freshwater pollution from chemical pollutants. Proposals should focus on demonstrating replicable solutions to prevent and minimize pollution in the Mediterranean Sea including its major river catchment areas. The maximum amount of financial support is €100 thousand per region. Applicants must be established in the Member States of the European Union or low- and middle-income countries. The Hague Academy for Local Governance invites applications for a practice-oriented blended course on water governance. Participants will receive training and visit several Dutch examples of water projects in order to use this knowledge to develop practical solutions for the challenges they face in their home country. Participants are predominantly funded by their own employer but the program is eligible for Nuffic scholarships, which have a separate application process and deadlines (please check carefully). The Ernest du Bois Prize offers €20 thousand for doctoral studies on the theme of water availability. The awards are made to young students and engineers in Belgium who are carrying out research on the theme of water and its availability — including issues of protecting reserves, managing pollution, developing processing techniques, and others. The U.S. Department of State seeks organizations to build technical and policy capacity to develop and manage built water storage in the South Asian region. The project will be implemented in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The intended beneficiaries of this project are government officials in the targeted countries; water management, environmental and energy management, and other related professionals; faculty members and advanced students. The anticipated award amount is US$1.28 million. Proposed programs should be completed in 36 months or less. Eligibility is restricted to non-profit organizations.
