Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
The Toyota Foundation offers competitive grants in two program areas relevant for the developing world.
1 — International Grant Program. This program aims to promote cooperation in Japan and other eligible Asian countries in defined themes of social, cultural, and environmental importance.
The grants support applied one-year projects intended to generate recommendations that can be shared with other stakeholders. Projects focus in one or several of the eligible countries.
The Foundation will consider funding a single institution, but it gives priority to teams of various backgrounds (e.g. government, academic, civil society, etc.) to generate greater impact.
Applications are made online during an annual application period.

2 — Research Grant Program. The Foundation encourages ambitious research that explores new social values and social issues. It favors ground-breaking ideas, concepts, and theories capable of taking the world into the future.
Previous grants include several that link social systems and culture with natural resources, environment, and agriculture in developing countries.
The Foundation makes grants to institutions (joint research grants), and to young researchers (individual research grants). There are no restrictions by age, affiliation, or profession.
Applications are made online during an annual calendar application period.
