Principal Office: Wales (UK)
The Waterloo Foundation (TWF) makes grants internationally and in Wales to address wealth disparity and climate-related issues.
The Foundation’s program areas are World Development; Environment; Child Development; and Wales. The first two programs (World Development; Environment) focus on issues in developing countries.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
1 — World Development. This program area includes a theme on water, sanitation, and hygiene.
- Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene — TWF gives priority to addressing both sanitation and access to clean drinking water through an integrated approach. In exceptional circumstances, TWF provides support to develop technical capacity in the water and sanitation sector.
In addition to these main areas of funding, TWF occasionally funds projects to generate income from enterprises, such as from apiculture and sustainable aquaculture.
TWF makes grants to registered nonprofit charitable organizations in the UK and other countries. Applicants from outside the UK need to provide references.
Most main grants will be for a total of over £50 thousand (but less than £100 thousand per year). Most small grants will be for a total of £5 thousand to £10 thousand for one or two years.

- Marine Issues — The Foundation supports initiatives to halt declining fish stocks of importance to local communities.
- Tropical Forests — the Foundation funds efforts to protect tropical forests in relation to their importance for climate, communities, and biodiversity.
In these environmental themes, TWF makes grants to fund practical local projects, as well as to support strategic initiatives at a larger scale (e.g., policy, campaigns, etc.).
