Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification

Grants in support of sustainable forest management and forest certification

Principal Office: International

The Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) contributes to sustainable forest management by promoting independent certification that ecological, social, and ethical standards of forest production comply with criteria of sustainability.

PEFC claims to be the world’s largest international forest certification system by working through about 30 national forest certification systems. Membership in PEFC also includes international NGOs, companies, and associations committed to the principles of forest certification.

PEFC makes grants through its Collaboration Fund.

Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources

Collaboration Fund. The PEFC Collaboration Fund provides financial support to a range of projects within the field of forest certification. The Fund seeks project proposals that pioneer the application of technology and innovation within forest certification.

Eligibility extends to PEFC members and other non-profit organizations. Project partners may include private and public sector organizations. If the lead grantee is not a PEFC member, PEFC recommends including a PEFC member as a project partner.

Grants are a maximum of CHF 50 thousand for projects of up to three years. Grantees must provide at least 35% additional co-funding.

APPLICATION: PEFC posts an annual call for proposals to the Collaboration Fund.

Each call includes grant-making objectives; eligible activities; eligible applicants; grant size; guidelines on how to prepare proposals; and the application deadline.
