Grants for research on coral reefs in the South Pacific region

The Institute for Pacific Coral Reefs (IRCP) promotes research, conservation, and capacity building to protect and manage Pacific coral reefs. Based in French Polynesia, the IRCP collaborates with the University of French Polynesia and other institutions of higher education across the Pacific Islands.
Specific activities of IRCP include support for a network of reef monitoring; local and international workshops for awareness creation and scientific exchanges; and a grants program for reef research.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
IRCP Grants. In collaboration with partner organizations in French Polynesia, the IRCP makes research grants to early-career scientists for reef research projects.
The program is open to applicants of French nationality, and to eligible candidates in South Pacific Island States. In order to contribute to capacity building, IRCP defines a minimum number of applicants to be accepted from the South Pacific Island States.
Each grant is €4,500 to cover travel expenses to and from French Polynesia, accommodation, and research costs. Projects are for one year.
APPLICATION:The IRCP announces annual calls for research proposals. Each call includes application guidelines, qualifications criteria, conditions of the grant, how to submit applications, and the application deadline.

Note: This list does not include territories, collectivities, and other areas in the South Pacific region governed by larger countries such as France, New Zealand, and USA.

IRCP supports capacity building through international workshops and local workshops in French Polynesia.
IRCP engages with a network of partners in France and the Pacific.
