Misereor is the international development agency of the Catholic Church in Germany. Its mission is to fight hunger, disease, poverty, and other forms of human suffering in Asia, Africa, and Latin America by strengthening self-initiative.
Misereor works with local organizations as its partners to address the needs of the weakest members of society. Issues important to Misereor include small-scale agriculture, land access, water, climate change and energy, and other basic needs in impoverished communities.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
Support for development cooperation. Misereor supports diverse projects which share integrating values regarding human rights, cultural diversity, and compassion for people in need.
Issues and themes which guide Misereor include climate change and justice; food security and agriculture; access to land; climate change and energy; and extractive industries (among others).
About the program
Misereor’s project partners are Christian Catholic churches in project countries, together with their organizations in charge of development work. Misereor also supports other partners that have close links to the poor – including NGOs, social movements, and research institutes.
APPLICATION: Misereor posts guidelines in multiple languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese) regarding how to request funding support.
A funding request contains a brief summary to describe the project; information about the applicant’s organization; background and target group of the project; work done to date; project goal and objectives; planned activities and project personnel; possible other effects; planned outcome and impact assessment; prospects for sustainability; and cost and financing plan. Misereor does not specify a minimum or maximum grant size.
Funding requests can be submitted any time during the year. There are no submission deadlines.
