The Zayed International Foundation for the Environment recognizes pioneering contributions in the field of environment and sustainable development on a worldwide basis.
The work of the Foundation honors the development philosophy of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, former head of state and conservation leader of the United Arab Emirates.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
Zayed International Prize for the Environment. The Foundation administers the Zayed International Prize for the Environment, which makes awards in four categories:
- Global leadership in environment and sustainable development;
- Scientific and technological achievements in environment;
- Environmental action leading to positive change in society; and
- Young scientists award for environmental sustainability.
The Zayed Prize is open to individuals, organizations, partnerships, and projects. The prize can be awarded for achievement over a long period of time, or for a single outstanding initiative.
The prize amounts are US$500 thousand for global leadership in environment and sustainable development; US$250 thousand for scientific and technological achievements in environment; US$200 thousand for environmental action leading to positive change in society; and US$50 thousand for the young scientists award.
