International Water Center — International Masters Scholarships (Integrated Water Management)

Australia’s International Water Center announces funding for international candidates accepted into the Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia. Two scholarships will cover full tuition and living expenses of up to AU$95,564 (Type A Scholarship), and a third will cover full tuition of up to AU$58,989 (Type B Scholarship). Applications are invited from eligible countries in Asia-Pacific; Africa; Latin America and Caribbean; the Middle East; Europe; and North America. Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association — Innovation for Sustainability Grant

WIOMSA seeks innovative projects (demonstration and pilot projects) that address modern-day marine sustainability challenges to bridge the gap between marine research and innovation. The goal of the Innovation for Sustainability Grant program is to support the development and testing of concepts and new approaches that address and enhance the understanding of marine and coastal environmental issues. The proposals should be submitted by an institution or a consortium (government departments, research and academic institutions, NGOs, CBOs, or private companies). German Government — International Climate Initiative South Africa

Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI) supports projects with focus on transition to a decarbonised economy; as well as other initiatives with land use and climate change mitigation relevance in South Africa. The projects should have a funding volume between €12 million and €15 million each. Non-governmental organisations, business enterprises, universities and research institutions from Germany and abroad are eligible to apply. Program outlines can be submitted until 31 August 2020. British Council — Newton Travel Grants for Researchers

The Newton Fund Researcher Links Travel Grants support early-career researchers to undertake an international research placement to strengthen links for future collaboration. UK’s current partner country for these travel grants is South Africa. Subject areas for the workshops vary by partner country to include agriculture, climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, and several others. Researchers that reside in the UK can apply for funding to visit a university or research institution. Researchers residing in South Africa can apply for funding to come to the UK. U.S. Department of State — Networks to Combat Conservation Crimes

The US Department of State announces a notice of funding opportunity for for mapping illicit supply networks to combat conservation crimes at their convergence in eligible developing countries. The goal is to identify, analyze, and map the illicit networks associated with conservation crimes in Peru, Colombia, Gabon, Ghana, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Proposed projects are expected to deliver recommendations for policy and materials to aid technical capacity development efforts. The total available funding under this call is US$493,750. Eligibility extends to US-based and overseas-based non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. Applications must be submitted by 15 June 2020. Find the link

Swedish International Development Agency — Training Course: Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa

Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. The program has a strong focus on agriculture and water resources, planning and communication of climate information. Organizations in Kenya, Sudan, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe are invited to nominate candidates for the Advanced International Training Programme “Climate change – Mitigation and Adaptation.” Sida will cover the costs of the program fee and required literature as well as accommodation, meals, health insurance, and international travel. SNV Netherlands — Innovations Against Poverty

SNV invites the private sector to develop products, services, and business models that contribute to the fight against poverty and climate change. The program is designed for companies which are operational or plan to enter the market (with a local partner in case of international companies) in any of energy; water and sanitation; agriculture and food; and cross-sectoral. The call is designed for companies that are operational in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia. The program provides advisory support and non-reimbursable funding for up to 49% of total investment ranging from €50 thousand to €200 thousand. Royal Society — Fellowships for Independent African Researchers

The Royal Society, in partnership with the African Academy of Sciences, offers fellowships to African early-career researchers who have the potential to become leaders in their field. Each FLAIR Fellowship will be for two years and will offer up to £150 thousand per year, alongside training and mentoring. Applications should be within the remit of natural sciences, including agricultural and biological research, among others. Africa YES Centre — Social Entrepreneurship Training Program

The Africa Young Entrepreneur Support (YES) Program is a 6-month intensive fully sponsored entrepreneurship training that provides young African social entrepreneurs (between 18-29 years) with the resources they need to create impact in their local communities. 30 selected candidates will receive hands-on training sessions, mentorship and access to up to US$15 thousand in grants. Please note that the program requires candidates to be in Nairobi for the entire program period because travel and accommodation is not covered. West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use — Master’s Program Climate Change & Marine Sciences

With funding provided by Germany, WASCAL engages in research to help tackle the severe challenges posed by climate change, focusing on West Africa. The WASCAL Graduate Studies Program offers full scholarships to support four master’s and six doctoral programs implemented at ten universities in West African countries. WASCAL’s member countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Niger, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo. Doctoral students may spend up to six months at a host institution in Germany. Graduate students have access to the WASCAL research facilities located in various watersheds of West Africa.
