The project should focus on a river basin and/or work along the supply chain of a multinational company or a specific industry sector across Sub-saharan Africa. Swedish International Development Agency — Training on Healthy Livestock and Safe Food
Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Organizations in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Tanzania, and Uganda are invited to nominate candidates for the 12-months Training Programme ‘Healthy Livestock and Safe Food’. The overall objective of this programme is to reduce poverty and vulnerability among smallholder farmers. Candidates representing government organisations, private companies or NGOs at national, regional or local level are encouraged to apply. The training will take place in Sweden. Sida will cover costs related to all programme phases except personal expenses, visa fees or any local airport taxes and departure fees. The closing date for applications is 31 January 2019. African Development Bank — Investments in Agricultural Infrastructure in Africa
Through the Agriculture Fast Track (AFT) Fund, the African Development Bank provides initial funding for agriculture infrastructure projects spanning the entire value chain – from production to market. Co-funding is encouraged, but not necessary, provided that the requested amount does not exceed US$1 million. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), government agencies, and non-governmental organizations from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal and Tanzania are eligible to apply. The European Commission aims to minimise the environmental impact of livestock and prioritise animal welfare in Uganda. The priority under this call are smallholders and small beef-related agribusiness to ensure an environmentally sustainable, climate-resilient, low-emission, local and regional meat industry. Grants requested under this call for proposals may fall between €300 thousand and €1.3 million. The Belmont Forum calls for global partnerships of academics and non-academics to address conservation and the sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. This call aims to support medium-size research projects with a direction of three to four years, with a recommended budget of up to €1.5 million. Research consortia must include at least three participating partner organizations established in three different countries to be eligible under this call. The Climate Smart Agriculture, East Africa (CSA-EA) program offers opportunities for the placement of two PhD students to be enrolled in one of the graduate schools of Wageningen University. The selected PhD students are expected to spend about 18 months in Wageningen (Netherlands) and 30 months in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, and/or Uganda).
