Israeli Agency for International Development — Course: Production of Subtropical Fruit Trees

Israel’s Agency for International Development (MASHAV) offers professional short courses in Israel in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, health, education, and social development. MASHAV offers a limited number of scholarships to cover course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses. The international course on “Production of subtropical fruit trees: Management, technologies and post-harvest” will focus on orchard management, fruit varieties, irrigation and fertilization, and post-harvest. The course is geared towards professionals from governmental and non-governmental institutions, universities, research institutes and/or private sector, from francophone Africa, involved in subtropical arboriculture. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation across Multi-Hotspots

The CEPF invites applications for biodiversity conservation among two or more biodiversity hotspots. Proposed projects must address multiple hotspots, including at least one of the following: Cerrado, Eastern Afromontane and Indo-Burma. Grants under this call will range from US$ 20 thousand to US$100 thousand. Eligibility for funding extends to community groups and associations, NGOs, private enterprises, universities, research institutes, and other civil society organizations. U.S. Department of State — Wildlife Trafficking Evidence Security and Destruction

The U.S. Department of State seeks applications for its “Wildlife Trafficking Evidence Security and Destruction” activity. The aim of this call is to implement evidence handling procedures and improve evidence management and chain of custody throughout wildlife trafficking cases Africa and Southeast Asia. Therefore, proposed projects should strengthen domestic, criminal justice institutions by supporting successful enforcement, investigative, and prosecutorial functions of wildlife crimes. The total funding amount is not to exceed US$2 million for two years. Eligibility extends to U.S. and international non-profit organizations. Applications have to be submitted by 15 April 2019. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation in Central Africa

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s aim is to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. For that reason, the USFWS “Wildlife Without Borders” seeks proposals to reduce threats to key wildlife populations in Central Africa from wildlife trafficking, unsustainable resource use, and human-wildlife conflicts. Grants under this call will range from US$30 thousand to US$2 million. Grants are to organizations, institutions of higher education, governments and individuals. The international course on ” Agricultural Development in Arid Regions” will focus on soil and water management,  intensive crop production and marketing systems, irrigation and fertigation, and the implementation of agro-technologies. The course is geared towards professionals from governmental and non-governmental institutions, universities, research institutes and/or private sector, from African English-speaking countries, involved in agricultural development in arid and semi-arid regions. Securing Water for Food — Summer Research Project

Securing Water for Food seeks master-level students or master-level graduates to act as field evaluators to conduct in-country, field research with SWFF in Ethiopia, India, Uganda, Bangladesh or South Africa. SWFF is looking for candidates that have the skills and interest in gathering qualitative and quantitative data from farmers and other stakeholders in emerging market economies. Selected applicants will receive a roundtrip airfare to and from the country of destination, a stipend of US$2,500 to cover trip expenses and another US$2,500 payment after submission of final deliverables. African Union — Scholarship for Refugees in Africa

The Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship Scheme encourages the participation of young African refugees and internally displaced persons at postgraduate level, for Masters and PhD programmes in the fields of Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Health, Education, Engineering, and Social Sciences. Candidates must be under 35 years and have proof of admission to undertake a full time Masters program at a recognized university of an African Union Member State. African Academy of Sciences — Climate Research for Development in Africa

The African Academy of Sciences (AAS), the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Weather and Climate information SERvices for Africa (WISER) and the Africa Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) announce an initiative to support Africa-led climate science research through the Climate Research for Development (CR4D) in Africa initiative. CR4D will award 1-year research grants to 15 African climate researchers of up to US$130 thousand. Candidates must be hosted by or affiliated with a university, research institute or other eligible institution of higher education in Africa and hold a PhD in climate or related sciences. ygap — Support for Female Entrepreneurs in Africa

The yher accelerator provides support to female entrepreneurs and female-led impact ventures across Africa. The aim of the program is to provide solutions to poverty by empowering women. The program provides access to mentors, training and a week-long intensive training workshop. Winners of the peer review will receive US$25 thousand in funding and the chance to apply for an additional AU$10 thousand to AU$50 thousand to help scale their venture.
