World Food Programme — Climate Adaptation

The WFP Innovation Accelerator aims to identify, support, and scale high-impact innovations that enhance climate adaptation in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. The World Food Programme invites innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers with groundbreaking solutions that drive resilience, enhance climate adaptability, and promote sustainable development in affected communities to apply. More than US$ 1 million in equity-free funding will be available for 8-10 startups. African Development Bank — Agri-Food Financing

Seed Lab offers capacity building supporting agri-food businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa. Prioritization will be given to businesses with integrated gender-inclusive and climate-resilient practices. The 3-month program offers help with strategic planning, financial management, business operations, and leadership, to support sustainable growth. The deadline for applications is 05 August 2024. African Plant Nutrition Institute — Plant Nutrition Outreach Fellowship

The African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) awards US$5,000 to African scientists to support education, training, and communication programs relevant to improving the use and efficiency of plant nutrients in African agroecosystems. Projects must focus on improved outreach or implementation of appropriate soil fertility management in agricultural systems. Eligibility extends to scientists, extension specialists, or educators working at an African university, nonprofit organization, or in the private sector. Fast Forward — Tech Accelerator

The Fast Forward invites applications for the 2025 Accelerator Program to support and scale tech nonprofits. Tech innovations may include agri-tech or clean energy, among others. Selected entrepreneurs receive a US$25 thousand grant, mentorship, and connections to people who can help their innovation scale. The accelerator is open to tech nonprofits from around the world. Institute of International Education — Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowships

The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program offers short-term fellowships to African-born academics at universities in the USA and Canada to collaborate with African universities in research, curriculum co-development, and/or graduate student training. Project requests to host scholars are submitted by universities and other higher education institutions in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. Past scholars in the program have included several in agriculture, environment, and related disciplines. Scholar applications must be submitted before 18 September 2024. Link

ETH4D — Visiting Student Grant

The ETH4D Visiting Student Grant provides ETH professors funding to invite a student from a low- or middle-income country to ETH Zurich for a research stay of 3-6 months. The invited student must be registered as a Master’s (MA/MSc) student in their home institution. The grant covers the following expenses up to a maximum of CHF 16.5 thousand. International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies — Youth Innovation Award

The International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) invites applications for the Youth Innovation Award. CIHEAM will reward an innovative solution (scientific or entrepreneurship product/service) that contributes to the green and blue transition to improve human well-being and social equity while reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities and contributing to zero climate impact. The selected awardee will receive a financial grant of €10 thousand. Applicants must be young Mediterranean, aged not more than 39 years. The deadline is 15 August 2024. Friends of Nepal — Nepal Grants

Friends of Nepal (FoN) supports initiatives that fight climate change and environmental degradation and provide solutions to agricultural and economic development in Nepal. FoN welcomes applications that simultaneously address climate change, natural resource conservation, and sustainability as well as economic development. Earth Company — Impact Hero 2025

Each year, Earth Company selects one Impact Hero that has the potential to transform the future of developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Impact Heroes are visionary leaders who tackle some of the most pressing social and environmental challenges and make transformative changes to the communities they serve. Earth Company provides 3 years of support through leadership coaching, fundraising, marketing, and business development. Eligibility extends to everybody and all forms of organizations. Embassy of the Czech Republic — Small-Scale Development Projects 2024

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria launches its annual call for proposals for Small Scale Development Projects. The call concerns all countries accredited to the Embassy: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Namibia. Projects and development activities providing materials or equipment, training, or capacity-building in the fields of sustainable management of natural resources, agriculture, and economic transformation (including renewable energy) are welcome. The Czech Republic will provide up to CZK 500 thousand per project. Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, or community groups are welcome to apply.
