The International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA) is offering six professional development and research grants for 2019 on the role of scientific evidence and advice in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Grants of up to to €15 thousand per project will support early-to-mid career researchers or policy practitioners on this theme in eligible low- and middle-income countries. Applicants must hold a PhD at time of application, or have at least five years full-time equivalent experience in research or as a public policy professional (e.g. advice, analysis, implementation, evaluation). Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and a partner country to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. UK and Russian Institutions can request up to £51 thousand to be used towards workshop implementation. All workshops must be held in 2019. European Commission — Sustainable Agriculture Practices in Palestine
The objective of this call is to promote social and economic development in Palestine to a more sustainable economic development towards a green economy. This call will support projects that focus on agriculture growth and profitability by provision of adequate sustainable means for better access to and utilisation of land and water. Grants requested for this purpose must fall between the amounts of € 1,9 million and € 3,8 million. Eligibility extends to non-governmental organisations, public sector operators, local authorities, and international (inter-governmental) organisations established in a Member State of the European Union or in Palestine. RUFORUM — Community Action Research Programme 2018/2019
The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, seeks applications for the programme “Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s growth and development (TAGDev)”. TAGDev’s Community Action Research Programme aims to extend university activities to work more closely with rural communities. Funding of up to US$300 thousand is available for a period of 3-4 years. The programme focuses on crops and livestock value chains of strategic importance in Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana and Namibia. Climate Tracker seeks young writers from around the world who want to make a big impact in their countries by writing about the effects of meat consumption on climate change. The 2 best writers will get a chance to attend the Convention on Biological Diversity negotiations in Egypt (November 2018). Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Africa — Small Grants for Organizations in Africa
PAN is an advisor to the Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) for grants to civil society in subjects of environment and sustainable development. PAN Africa invites African organizations to submit short proposals that may qualify for GGF support. Areas important to PAN include projects on the themes of Water Resources; Climate Changes; Sustainable Agriculture; and the Protection of Forests. Proposals should include project objectives, methodology, expected results, and an activities budget. The requested contribution should not exceed US$3,500. Strategic Support Program for Scientific Research — Call for Research Projects in Agriculture and Health
The Strategic Support Program for Scientific Research (PASRES) of Côte d’Ivoire and the Uganda Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) launch a call for joint research projects in the fields of Agriculture and Health. Proposals for scientific research should focus on agriculture and plant health (crop diseases, livestock and fisheries) or Environment and Human Health (resilience of populations to the effects of climate change). Projects will receive US$50 thousand in funding for one year. To be eligible, research partnerships must involve researchers from both countries (one from Côte d’Ivoire and the other from Uganda). Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation — Pacific AgriHack Lab 2018
The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seek innovations that have to potential to overcome challenges in agriculture, agribusiness and aquaculture. The AgriHack Lab aims to address the limited support for upscaling the use of novel and existing ICT platforms/applications or developing prototypes for farmers (especially smallholders and fisheries) and small and medium enterprises. Three selected winners will receive €5 thousand to implement their solution. The competition is open to ICT experts, tech savvy young professionals, farmers and/or agri-entrepreneurs operating in Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, or Vanuatu.
