International Development Research Centre — Regional Research Networks
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) announces a call for full proposals for the selection of regional research hubs to advance skills and policies for an inclusive and sustainable future of work. This initiative supports high-quality, innovative and gender responsive research that addresses key Future of Work challenges, including climate-resilient food systems. Regional research hubs can submit budget requests of up to a maximum of CA$1.7 million. IDRC is expecting to fund 5 regional research hubs in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA and LAC. Pitch AgriHack is a digital agriculture competition focused on accelerating entrepreneurial growth in the agriculture sector in Africa. A fourth invite-only category will award up to US$1.5 million in grants to scalable ventures that are already generating measurable impact for Africa’s smallholder farmers. U.S. Department of State — Strengthening Sustainable Communities in Panama and Costa Rica
The U.S. Department of State makes grants to incentivize support and help build sustainable communities in Panama and Costa Rica through the development of small to medium-sized business enterprises supported by small business development centers. Track one will focus on developing sustainable tourism for economic development. Track two will focus on workforce development which includes agriculture sectors. Horizon2020 — Venture Showcase Africa
The African European Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB) program is an EU/Horizon2020-funded initiative, aiming to accelerate the growth of African startups with disruptive solutions in Climate Smart Agriculture, Smart Cities, Digital Trade or Clean Tech. Companies get visibility with investors throughout the selection and interview process. Finalists receive mentorship and technical advice directly from the angel investors. Eligibility extends to for-profit companies with a product or service available on the market. At least one of the founders needs to have an African nationality from Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, or Uganda. University of St. Gallen — Research Partnership Grants 2023
Research Partnership Grants aim to strengthen or initiate scientific exchange between researchers from Swiss and Latin American institutions in all disciplines. These grants are particularly useful to develop joint project proposals to be submitted to large funding agencies in Latin America, Switzerland, and Europe or to combine already existing and independently funded projects. The Leading House invites scholars from Switzerland to propose mono- or interdisciplinary research projects in any Latin American country, involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships. The Belmont Forum welcomes transdisciplinary proposals that address the nexus of Climate, Environment, and Health.
