Government of Hungary — Masters Degrees in Agricultural Engineering 2020-2021

In partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the government of Hungary announces scholarships for MSc degrees in agriculture at participating Hungarian universities. The fields of specialization for the 2020-2021 Academic Year are Food Safety, Horticultural Engineering, and Animal Nutrition. Getty Images — Climate Visuals Grants

Getty Images is committed to evolving the visual narratives that define the global climate crisis in the commercial and editorial space. Together with Climate Visuals, Getty Images launches the Climate Visuals Grants which aim to support the creation of compelling and emotionally engaging imagery that explores the complex and layered climate crisis. Photojournalists from around the world are invited to submit projects with a compelling visual narrative based primarily on documentary still images. World Bank — Innovate4Climate Pitch Hub Competition

Innovate4Climate seeks innovators, startups and entrepreneurs who develop climate-smart solutions with potential for transformative impact in reducing emissions and/or increasing resilience to climate change. Solutions can be goods, services (e.g. financial instruments, risk management mechanisms), technological solutions, or innovative business models. The competition aims to support climate-smart cities with innovations for energy, food/agriculture, waste/water, and two additional categories.The call for solutions will close on 01 March 2020. Wellcome Trust — International Exchange Programs in Humanities, Social Science and Bioethics

The Wellcome Trust enables researchers to run international exchange programs specializing in health-related humanities, social sciences or bioethics. An International Exchange Program is up to £1.5 million and can last for three to five years. The Trust covers the costs of carrying out the program. The proposed program must have one program leader based at an eligible UK organisation and one co-applicant based at an eligible organisation anywhere in the world outside the UK. Wellcome Trust — Research Development Awards in Humanities, Social Science and Bioethics

The Wellcome Trust funds groups of researchers who want to shape the direction of their research in health-related humanities, social sciences or bioethics. The Research Development Award is up to £1 million and lasts for three to five years. The award covers the costs of running the applicants research development program. Eligibility extends to emerging or established research groups consisting of two to six participants from anywhere in the world. Preliminary applications must be submitted by 03 March 2020. World Academy of Sciences — TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize for Scientists in the Developing World

The TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize gives international recognition to individual scientists in the developing world for their outstanding scientific achievements. The prize carries a monetary award of US$100 thousand. In 2020, the prize is for agricultural sciences. Candidates must be nationals of a developing country, and must have lived and worked in a developing country for the last 10 years. The deadline for nominations is 10 March 2020. Regional Studies Association — Travel Grants

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) covers issues in the fields of climate change, energy, migration, and economic development. RSA makes travel grants of up to £500 to its members to present their work, network and participate in non-RSA events. (Note: non-members are encouraged to apply and join RSA). Grants have no geographical limitation. Applications are accepted twice a year. The deadlines for travel grant applications are 29 May and 30 November 2021. Link to travel grants

Regional Studies Association — Research Network Grant

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) covers issues in the fields of climate change, energy, migration, and economic development. RSA makes grants to researchers interested in establishing networks for research collaboration. The maximum funding is £10 thousand for newly established networks; and £7,500 for renewing networks. A research network must be organised and managed by active RSA members. Networks are typically made up of individuals from different countries, without any geographical limitation. The World Academy of Sciences — Workshop on Coffee Research

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) seeks young scientists from developing countries engaged in coffee research to participate in the workshop “Addressing Key Challenges on Coffee Research” (Italy, April 2020). The event will address key challenges in coffee research, growth and production and provide opportunities to build links and collaborations between researchers and coffee experts. UK Research and Innovation — Reducing the Impacts of Plastic Waste in Developing Countries

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) invites proposals for international, interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects with the aim to reduce the impacts of plastic waste in developing countries. This call aims to support up to five projects with a value of up to £3.5 million (note: overseas organisations are eligible for 100% direct project costs). All projects are required to have a Principal Investigator based in a UK research organisation. The call has a two stage application process.
