UNESCO World Heritage Centre — World Heritage Volunteers Youth Campaign

The UNESCO World Heritage Centre announces the Call for Projects for the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Campaign 2020. The WHV encourages young people to undertake concrete actions and to play an active role in the protection, preservation and promotion of World Heritage sites. Legally registered public or private organisations and institutions are invited to submit a project proposal for practical, hands-on workshops with youth focus. Each organisation is eligible to apply for a maximum of 4 projects to be carried out at different World Heritage sites. Projects should have a minimum 10 day duration and involve as much international volunteers as possible. Applications have to be submitted by 19 January 2020. Link to instructions

Rockefeller Foundation — Food System Vision Prize

The Rockefeller Foundation invites organizations across the globe to develop and submit their vision of a regenerative and nourishing food system. Project ideas must tackle global problems, including overpopulation, climate change, or soil, air and water pollution. Selected visionaries will receive US$200 thousand in project funding to help implement their ideas and participate in an accelerator during which they will have access to media and storytelling training. Women4Climate — Tech Challenge

The C40 Women4Climate Tech Challenge seeks women-led innovative tech solution for climate with a measurable impact to experiment them in C40 cities. Thematic areas of interest are: Adaptation and risk cities response, Healthy public buildings, and Green and healthier streets. A total of US$40 thousand in funding will be split among the winners to support their experimental phase. Association of Avian Veterinarians — Support Of Avian Research (SOAR)

The Association of Avian Veterinarians seeks research proposals addressing significant areas of need for research in avian species (atherosclerosis and cardiac disease; avian bornavirus, feather-damaging behavior). Preference will be given to grant submissions relating to avian species traditionally kept as companions, however proposals relating to zoological species will also be considered. United Nations University — Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships 2020

The United Nations University offers postdoctoral fellowships to young scholars and policymakers, especially from the developing world. The fellowship program is with the UNU’s Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). The research themes include water and urban development; governance for sustainable development; and others. Fellowships are awarded for a period of 24 months. There are no nationality requirements, but applicants should be fluent in English. The closing date for applications is 21 February 2020. About the Fellowship

Agropolis Foundation — Agriculture-based Solutions

The Agropolis Foundation seeks to promote the agro-ecological transition by promoting practices and solutions which conserve natural renewable resources. Therefore, the Foundation invites research and project proposals along three transversal axes: Agriculture and climate change: adaptation and mitigation (Axis 1); Conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity (Axis 2); Responsible production and consumption (Axis 3). The call will finance two types of projects. Type 1 projects may request between €150 thousand and €250 thousand, Type 2 projects may request between €20 thousand and €25 thousand. The lead proponent should be from one of the research units belonging to the Foundation’s scientific network. The application deadline is 03 March 2020. Find the call

U.S. National Science Foundation — Antarctic Artists and Writers Program

The Antarctic Artists and Writers Program supports writing and artistic projects specifically designed to increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the Antarctic and human endeavors in Antarctica. Artists and writers receive operational support, and round-trip economy air tickets between the United States and the Southern Hemisphere whose work requires them to be in the Antarctic to complete their proposed project. Priority will be given to projects that focus on interpreting and representing scientific activities. There is no restriction concerning the nationality of applicants but the resulting projects must target audiences in the U.S. and be distributed/exhibited in the U.S. (Note: Potential proposers are encouraged to contact the Program Officer prior to submitting a proposal.) Friedrich Naumann Foundation — Scholarships for International Students

The scholarship scheme is open to qualified international candidates studying full-time at German universities. International applicants from all subject areas can apply for a scholarship for their Masters degree as well as PhD. The minimum funding covers two semesters. Each grant is worth up to €850 per month. Deadlines for application are 30 April and 31 October of each year. Applications must be submitted through the Friedrich Naumann Foundation

EC Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020) — Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellowships 2020

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellowships include the Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE). RISE aims to develop partnerships at the international level in Europe and outside Europe (most developing countries are eligible) in academic and non-academic sectors. The organizations constituting the partnerships contribute to joint research and innovation by seconding and/or hosting eligible staff members. The deadline for applications is 28 April 2020. Society of Chemical Industry — Travel Bursaries

The Society of Chemical Industry awards travel bursaries to young PhD students. There are various schemes available, some related to agriculture and life sciences.  Applicants will have preference if they wish to travel outside their country of residence, especially if they wish to work in a laboratory abroad. Next deadline cycle for the AJ Banks Award (Food Science), and the Messel Award (Chemical Science, including all life sciences) is 31 March 2020. Link
