UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — Training Program on Greenhouse Gases

UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT is a professional training on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to national experts from developing countries. The goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting and in contributing to climate action. The four-week intensive training course will begin on 22 July and be held in the Republic of Korea. Current government officials, consultants and researchers in the fields of greenhouse gas emissions, emission reductions, and climate change are encouraged to apply. Participants will be provided a return ticket from and to their home countries, as well as room and board for the duration of the training. Applications have to be sent by 10 May 2019. Government of China — Hubei Provincial Scholarships in China 2019

The Government of China offers scholarships for PhD, Masters and Bachelor degrees. The scholarships are offered to students from all nationalities (except chinese) for any subject taught in universities participating in Hubei Provincial scholarship program. (Note: This may include several topics and themes of the Terra Viva Grant Directory.) Scholarship funding varies according to category, ranging from ¥10 thousand to ¥20 thousand per year. National Geographic Society — Participatory Science

The National Geographic Society seeks proposals from around the world that will engage students and other citizen scientists in activities to address real world problems and lead to actions in science and conservation. Applicants should design and/or implement tools that support citizen science work, particularly data collection or data analysis. Applicants may request up to US$30 thousand. World Academy of Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships in Malaysia

TWAS offers postdoc fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang, Malaysia. The duration of the fellowships is 12 months to 3 years. Subject areas range across the physical and natural sciences, including agricultural sciences. Government of India — Training Courses in India

The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme invites international candidates from developing countries to apply for training courses scheduled during October-December in India. Topics for this period include courses in the themes of power, renewable & alternative energy; agriculture and rural development; environment & climate change; and others. The program covers transportation and visa costs, course fees, accommodation, and living and book allowances for course participants. Royal Geographic Society — Land Rover Bursary

The Land Rover Bursary supports researcher and explorer teams by providing funding of up to £30 thousand and the loan of a vehicle. The bursary is intended to be used for a journey with a geographical purpose where the capabilities of a Land Rover are indispensable. The application deadline is 30 November 2019. The Land Rover Bursary will not be awarded for 2020 and 2021. Know more

Minnesota Zoo — Ulysses S. Seal Conservation Grant Program

The Minnesota Zoo (USA) sponsors the Ulysses S. Seal Conservation Grant Program to award small grants to projects promoting the conservation of wildlife. Funding priority is given to field-based conservation, but worthy zoo-based projects are considered. Since its inception in 2002, the fund has awarded over US$460 thousand to more than 200 projects in 50 countries. Interested applicants need to work with a Minnesota Zoo staff member to champion the project. There is no application deadline. Info

University of Michigan — Conference on Sustainability and Development 2019

The University of Michigan seeks abstracts for presentations, workshops, and applications for financial assistance from students and scholars from lower-income countries for participation in the international conference on Sustainability and Development (11-14 October 2019). The conference themes are Sustainable Development and Indigenous Peoples, Climate Change, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Health, Biodiversity and Conservation, Energy Provision and Access, among others. The Sustainability and Development Initiative supports a limited number of participants from lower income countries with small grants to cover registration, travel, and accommodation. Takeda Foundation — Young Entrepreneurship Award 2019

The Takeda Foundation accepts applications for the Takeda Young Entrepreneurship Award. The Award is for young entrepreneurs trying to address real technological and social needs by creating goods and services that enhance the well-being of communities around the world. Past winners include projects in the field of water management, disaster-relief and biotechnology, among others. The winner of the Best Entrepreneur Award will receive 1 million Japanese yen. Five selected entrepreneurs will receive 200 thousand Japanese yen each. The application period ends 28 June 2019. About the award

John Ball Zoological Society — Wildlife Conservation 2019

The John Ball Zoological Society makes grants to conserve wild animals and their habitats; to improve the management of captive animals; and to develop education programs related to these objectives. Most funded projects are in developing countries. The principal investigator can be of any nationality and must be associated with a recognized institution (accredited zoo, academic institution, conservation or non-profit organization).
