The Purley Overseas Trust aims to address the problems of deprivation in the developing world by supporting grassroots projects which allow people to help themselves. The Trust makes grants for small-scale projects across a range of interests that include agriculture, water supply, energy, and others. Grant recipients are development-oriented charities in the UK and internationally. There is no limit on grant size, but most grants are in the range of £200 to £1,000. Climate Tracker — Climate and Health Photo Contest 2019
The Climate Tracker, in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), launches the Climate and Health Photo Contest 2019. The aim of the photography competition is to highlight the impacts of climate change on human health. Eight winners will be selected to produce a photostory (30 – 35 photographs) and will receive a US$200 cash prize. Following the eight photostories, one winner will be awarded with a fully-funded fellowship to attend the COP25 in Chile (November 2019). The deadline to submit applications is 13 April 2019. Unleash — Innovation Lab 2019
Unleash invites young experts from all around the world to participate in the 2019 Innovation Lab in Shenzhen (Nov 2019) to create real, scalable solutions towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Teams will explore real-life challenges within the SDG themes, before defining specific problems and coming up with solutions. The top teams will present their solutions to investors and experts. Applications are open to academics, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and technical experts from for profit and non-profit organizations. Royal Institute of International Affairs — Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship
Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, offers academy fellowships to international leaders. Applicants are recommended to consider existing research programmes that include climate change and the incorporation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by international organizations. The fellowship is aimed at mid-career professionals from academia, NGOs, business, government departments, civil society or the media. The fellowship is open to candidates worldwide. Khalifa University of Science and Technology offers Graduate Research/ Teaching Assistant (GRTA) scholarships to support students enrolled in one of the graduate programs. The University offers a wide range of programs in different subject areas including water and environmental engineering, science and technology degrees. European Commission — Solving Conflicts over Natural Resources in Kenya
The European Commission to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in Kenya in addressing the conflicts revolving around land tenure and access to natural resource. The following activities will be supported under this call: capacity building, land mediation initiatives involving local communities, projects of women’s and youth organisation, research, awareness raising and advocacy activities. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €500 thousand and €1 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations registered in anywhere in the world. Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership — Abe Fellowships 2019
The Abe Fellowship encourages international research in the social sciences and related disciplines on topics of pressing global concern — including climate change, sustainable urbanization, environmental degradation, and other cross-cutting issues that advance global problem solving from a transnational perspective. The fellowship program is open to citizens of Japan and the USA, as well as to nationals of other countries who can demonstrate serious long-term affiliations with research communities in Japan or the USA. Stockholm International Water Institute — Stockholm Junior Water Prize 2020
Each year, the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) co-operates with a national organisation that arranges a national Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) competition. SJWP is open for projects striving to improve water quality, water resources management, water protection, water and wastewater treatment. The competition is open to young people between the ages of 15 and 20. The winner receives US$15 thousand, a crystal sculpture, a diploma as well as the stay in Stockholm during the World Water Week. Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust — Conservation of Endangered Plant Species
The Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust awards a number of grants to individuals undertaking nature conservation projects in the UK and internationally (mainly developing countries). Projects may involve practical habitat or species management, research, training, education, awareness raising or campaigning. For the December 2019 round of applications, the Trust will be prioritising applications for conservation of endangered plant species. Most grants range from £500 to £1,500. RBC Environmental donations aim to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water while simultaneously supporting initiatives in the area of climate action to protect vulnerable communities. RBC funds initiatives that support the sustainable management and protection of water or projects that help combat climate change and its impacts. Most grants are up to $5 thousand.
