Columbus Zoo and Aquarium — Conservation Grants 2018
The Columbus Zoo makes conservation grants for research, local community involvement, capacity building, environmental education, and behavior change leading to improved conservation of wildlife and habitat. Grant requests may range from US$1 thousand to US$25 thousand, but grants are limited to US$5 thousand for first-time applicants. First-time applicants must submit a pre-proposal. International Coral Reef Initiative & UN Environment — Grants for Management of Coral Reefs 2017
The ICRI and UN Environmental Grants Programme invite concept notes for projects on sustainable management of coral reefs. Grants up to US$60 thousand will be awarded to projects aimed at contributing to the implementation of the ICRI plan of action and at protecting and preserving coral reefs and/or related ecosystems. The particular emphasis is building climate resilience and facilitating coral recovery. Grants are available to governments, NGOs, and community groups for projects implemented in developing countries, least-developed countries, and small-island developing states. Wildlife Photo — Habitats & Landscapes 2017
The wildlife photography contest series for 2017 is now running. Wildlife Photo will award prizes worth US$18 thousand in total (including photography trips and equipment). A selection of winners and highly-commended images will be exhibited on an outdoor screen in New York City. UN-Habitat — Youth Photography Competition on Climate Change
UN-Habitat is inviting young photographers to participate in a photography contest. The participants should represent solutions to climate change in their communities. The winner of this contest will be sponsored to a fully funded trip to COP-23 in Bonn, Germany where their work will be displayed to gain exposure on a global platform. National Geographic Society — Long-Distance Animal Migration
The National Geographic Society requests proposals from around the world to test innovative approaches that will improve the viability of migratory species. Projects may be focused around conservation, education, research, storytelling, or technology. Preference will be given to proposals that include feasible plans to measure baselines or demonstrate change in key indicators. World Meteorological Organization — International Prize for Model Development 2017
The World Climate Research Programme and the Global Climate Observing System invite nominations for the WCRP/WWRP International Prize for Model Development. The prize is awarded annually to an early- to mid-career researcher for outstanding contributions to model development related to weather and climate. Candidates should be within the first ten years of their career, as measured by receipt of a PhD or equivalent highest qualification. The HDH Wills Charitable Trust makes grants to UK-registered charities active in the conservation of wildlife and the environment. RUFORUM — Community Action Research Programme
The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) is partnering with the MasterCard Foundation to implement the programme “Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s growth and development (TAGDev).” TAGDev’s Community Action Research Programme aims to extend university activities to work more closely with rural communities. The programme focuses on crops and livestock value chains of strategic importance in Kenya, Uganda, and other African countries. Stockholm Treaty Lab — Investing in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
The Stockholm Treaty Lab Prize will be awarded to a team that drafts the most forward-looking, innovative, and workable Model Treaty to encourage foreign investment in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The contest is open to anyone worldwide, with emphasis on multidisciplinary teams – e.g., including lawyers, economists, scientists, and climate change experts. The Model Treaty needs to be compatible with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.The winning entry will be offered global exposure and an opportunity to engage on a global level.
