The United States–South Pacific Scholarship Program provides opportunities for university studies (master’s and bachelor’s degrees) at the University of Hawai‘i in fields that are relevant to the development needs of Pacific island countries. Priority areas of study include agriculture, environmental studies, and many others. Candidates from the following countries, who meet specific selection criteria, are eligible to apply: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Seabird Conservation Program 2024
The U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) invites applications to improve populations of focal Pacific seabirds through actions that increase survival and reproduction. Proposed projects may address the management of non-native, invasive animals; restoration of nesting grounds and habitat; research and monitoring activities to address conservation needs; or activities that reduce bycatch. Each year, Earth Company selects one Impact Hero that has the potential to transform the future of developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Impact Heroes are visionary leaders who tackle some of the most pressing social and environmental challenges and make transformative changes to the communities they serve. Irish Aid — SDG Challenge 2024
The SDG Challenge invites research teams to develop innovative solutions that contribute to SDG 2: Zero Hunger, “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”. Eligible partner countries are Cambodia; Laos; Palestine; Vietnam; ODA-eligible countries on the African continent; and ODA-eligible Small Island Developing States. Teams will receive up to €250 thousand to develop their idea. Earth Journalism Network — Climate Resilience
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers a training and grant opportunity for social media content producers in the Philippines. As part of this program, EJN will offer P108 thousand each to 10 social media content producers in the Philippines. Selected content producers will participate in a 4-day in-person training workshop on climate change and climate resilience and, with support from mentors, produce and disseminate four pieces of climate-related video content on social media platforms. EJN accepts applications from social media content producers who actively and frequently post short-form videos on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X, or other leading social media platforms. Commonwealth Professional Fellowships support mid-career professionals from developing Commonwealth countries to make professional visits (typically of three months) with UK host organizations. Applications are invited in the thematic area of clean energy, air, and oceans. Fellows must be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British-protected persons — and they must be permanent residents in a developing Commonwealth country. The Western Union Foundation Fellowship is for young entrepreneurs and community leaders who are from highly marginalized, refugee, and forcibly displaced communities around the globe. The 16-week-long program is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and experience to transform their communities. US$25 thousand in seed funding will be distributed among the Fellows.
