GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action seeks to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that leverage mobile digital technology to help anticipate potential humanitarian impacts and enable effective early response. Successful projects will receive an equity-free grant of between £100 thousand and £250 thousand to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. The UNICEF Venture Fund provides up to US$100 thousand in equity-free investments to provide seed funding to for-profit technology start-ups developing software solutions using frontier technologies for climate action. The Fund only accepts submissions from companies registered in UNICEF program countries. Only private companies are eligible. The submission deadline is 09 January 2023. Asia Research Institute — Asian Graduate Student Fellowship
The Asia Research Institute (ARI) invites applications from citizens of Asian countries for the Asian Graduate Student Fellowship. This opportunity includes a virtual fellowship and an in-person fellowship. Selected participants will undergo an intensive six-week program of independent research, training in academic writing, and mentorship meetings. Participants will take part in an intensive course on English academic writing. The fellowship program is open to junior scholars in the humanities and social sciences undertaking research focused on Southeast Asia. U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service — Marine Turtle Management and Conservation Program Pacific Islands
The International Marine Turtle Management and Conservation Program supports conservation, protection, or management actions supporting recovery of endangered sea turtle species occurring within the Pacific Islands Region. The program funds internationally-based projects to protect conserve western Pacific leatherback sea turtles occurring in Indonesia and Solomon Islands, and sea turtle management and conservation projects within Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Philippines, or Indonesia) and Japan with focus on fishery bycatch, nesting beach monitoring, poaching reduction, and/or the illegal sea turtle wildlife trade. Proposals between US$10 thousand and US$100 thousand per project year will be funded. Projects may apply for up to three years in length. Eligible applicants are institutions of higher education, nonprofits, commercial organizations, foreign institutions, foreign organizations, and governments. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Grants for Research towards Agricultural Innovative Solutions
SEARCA GRAINS offers short-term starter funds to collaborative actions aimed at transformative innovations for more sustainable agriculture and rural development across Southeast Asia. GRAINS will support the translational research and community knowledge transfer of technologies and products that will lead to diffusion or adoption of innovative solutions in agriculture. Funding ranges from US$ 5 thousand to US$15 thousand. The grant is open to academic/research, private, government or non-government institutions, farmer groups and cooperatives. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Early-Career Conference Grants
Early-career conference grants support emerging academics so they can take part in conferences that can have a profound impact on their teaching and research. This year’s grants are being offered for both virtual (online) and in-person conferences. Virtual conference grants cover the conference registration fee of up to £600 and a data grant of £50 for applicants who do not have reliable access to Wi-Fi. In-person conference grants are a maximum of £2,000 to cover conference registration fees, flights, accommodation and other travel related costs. The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) accepts applications for small grant funding. Grants are US$60 thousand (for new pilot projects) or US$125 thousand (for organizations with established customers). Funding should be used to enhance local climate action through the implementation of innovative locally-led adaptation practices, tools, and technologies.
