The Australian Aid: Friendship Grants program supports organisations from across Australia and provides funding for aid activities in the Indo-Pacific. Eligible Australian community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding of AU$30 thousand to AU$60 thousand in three annual grant rounds. The program funds development activities that strengthen an overseas community’s capacity or socio-economic situation and improve the lives of poor and vulnerable people. U.S. Department of State — Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy
The U.S. Department of State announces an opportunity for organizations to submit applications to the Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) initiative. The aim of the program is to grow sustainable and secure energy markets throughout the Indo-Pacific. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations. Innovate UK and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) seeks applications for the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund. The challenge invites innovative products, processes and services with focus on waste management or mobility. Eligibility extends to UK based businesses with at least one partner organisation, business, or academic institution located in Malaysia. SEARCA and FSC — Summer School in Agriculture and Food Systems
The Summer School “Transformative Changes in Agriculture and Food Systems”, jointly organized by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the Food Security Center (FSC) of the University of Hohenheim in Germany, will take place in Laguna, Philippines (9-27 September 2019). The FSC will offer up to 16 scholarships for PhD students from Africa, Asia, and Latin America to participate in the course. Earth Journalism Network — Environmental Data Journalism Workshop for Indonesian Journalists
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and Resource Watch seek applications from Indonesian journalists for a workshop in Jakarta (26 and 27 August 2019). Participants will learn how to discover, use and visualize open data in their environmental reporting. Journalists should be based in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, or Bekasi and have a record of reporting on scientific, environmental, natural resource management and/or infrastructural development topics. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) makes grants to journalists in the Asia-Pacific region to cover stories on the health impacts of climate and environmental change. Particular attention should be given to the adaptation needs, challenges, efforts and success stories of vulnerable and marginalized communities, women and youth. The NOW-Us! (NOthing about us, Without Us) Award honors inspiring inclusive initiatives from Africa and Asia that trigger empowerment of otherwise excluded groups. This includes social enterprises led by women, indigenous groups and ethnic minorities with initiatives that improve access to productive resources (land and water), among others. The three winners (1, 2 and 3) get a grant of respectively €25 thousand, €15 thousand and €10 thousand along with coaching and networking opportunities.
