European Commission — Sustainable Use of Peatland and Haze Mitigation

The European Commission calls for concept notes for projects that promote sustainable management of peatlands through collective actions in ASEAN member states. Requested grants under this call for proposals must fall between €4,5 and €5 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organisations established in a Member State of the European Union or in a Member State of the ASEAN. Australian APEC Study Centre — Women in Research 2018

The Australia – APEC Women in Research Fellowship supports female researchers from developing APEC economies to work in collaboration with partners at Australian institutions. Past fellows include several in subjects such as water resources, climate change, marine microbiology, and others related to environment. The program is open to female citizens and permanent residents in the following countries: Chile, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. European Commission — Improving Water Supply and Sanitation

The European Commission calls for concept notes from non-profit organizations that implement projects to improve access to safe water, adequate sanitation and hygiene practices in urban and small towns in Nigeria. Grants are up to €330 thousand for 2 years. Eligibility extends to non-profit organisations established in a Member State of the European Union or African, Caribbean and Pacific country. #SeeingBlue — Young Ocean Champions Award

#SeeingBlue seeks ideas and solutions for responsible blue tourism. “Blue tourism” is defined as responsible touristic activities that not only limit the impact of tourism on the marine environment, but can even reverse it and encourage a healthier relationship between the tourism industry, tourists (local and foreign) and the ocean. The Young Ocean Champions Award is open to young people (13-30 years old) from Mauritius and Seychelles. The winning team will receive US$ 500 in prize money, as well as US$ 1,000 in seed funding and mentoring from experts in the ocean industry to support them in the implementation of their project. German Embassy in Jakarta — Small Scale Projects 2018

The German Embassy in Jakarta seeks small scale projects and sustainable project ideas related to sectors of social welfare, agriculture, health, education or environment. The German Embassy financially supports projects of non-governmental and public benefit organisations. Projects receive up to €25 thousand and should aim to improve the livelihoods of populations in rural areas within 6 months. Applications must be received by 15 March 2018. Learn more

Alcoa Foundation — Location Grants

The Alcoa Foundation makes signature grants and location grants. Location grants serve communities around the world where Alcoa has production facilities or administrative offices. Grant making addresses the Foundation’s two key focus areas (i.e., climate change and biodiversity), in addition to local community priorities. Interested organizations make their grant requests through their local Alcoa facility. Asian Institute of Technology — Masters Scholarships in Energy and Environment

The Asian Institute of Technology invites applications for the Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarships for masters degree programs in infrastructure development; energy technology; oil, gas, and natural resources development; and environmental engineering and management. Eligibility extends to nationals of Cambodia, China (Yunnan and Guangxi provinces), Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Each scholarship covers tuition and registration fees, accommodation, and a bursary for living expenses at AIT‘s residential campus in Thailand for the 22 months of the masters program. Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade — Water for Women (WASH) Research Awards

The Water for Women Fund aims to improve health, gender equality, and well-being of Asian and Pacific communities. Research organisations are invited to submit proposals for the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Research Awards. Applications must be submitted by research organisations or institutions (individual researchers are not eligible). The Funding Round is open to Australian and international non-profit institutions or organisations. Applicants may request between AU$100 thousand and AU$400 thousand per year for up to three years. U.S. Department of State — Global Food Security Strategy

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks participants to co-create, co-invest, and collaborate on research and development interventions to address development challenges for food and nutrition security in Asia. USAID invites organizations and companies to submit an Expression of Interest. USAID will invest US$ 3 million in total. The Mission plans to hold a webinar on 10 January 2018. European Commission — Master of Science in Food Security and Climate Change 2018-2020

The Master of Science in Food Security and Climate Change (MS FSCC) is a joint degree for students from Southeast Asia funded by the European Commission’s ERASMUS+ Capacity Building for Higher Education. Each MS FSCC student will be enrolled in two universities, be supervised jointly by professors from these universities, and have a joint thesis defense. The ERASMUS+ funding provides excellent students in the program with a chance to spend one semester at a partner university in Europe. Applications close on 31 January 2018. About the MS program
