International Center for Journalists — Workshop for Latin American Journalists

The Douglas Tweedale Memorial Fellowship will be awarded to two Latin American journalists who seek to improve their environmental reporting skills. The two-week professional program will take place in Lima (Peru). Participants will have appointments with area investigative journalists, environmental experts, and short embeds with media outlets specializing in environmental coverage. Pride Lion Conservation Alliance and Colorado State University — Women Conservationists Leadership Workshop

Pride Lion Conservation Alliance and Colorado State University offer a special training as part of Pathways Africa 2020: Human Dimensions of Wildlife Conference and Training (February 2020). The 3-day training workshop is aimed at women conservationists to help strengthen their leadership skills to achieve greater conservation outcomes across Africa. Successful applicants will have their accommodation, meals, and conference registration fully funded. Additional stipends will be available for travel expenses up to US$500. Save Our Species — Threatened Species Conservation in Central Asia

Save Our Species (SOS) makes grants for conservation actions on threatened species and their habitats in Central Asia. This Call is accepting proposals targeting the conservation of the Goitered Gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa) and the Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) and their habitats in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Grants will range from CHF 25 thousand to CHF 200 thousand with a maximum project duration of 18 months. SOS requires matching resources in relation to grant size. Earth Journalism Network — Mesoamerican Reef Story Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to journalists in Central America to support in-depth and investigative reporting on environmental issues related to the Mesoamerican Reef in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras. EJN expects to award around six grants ranging from US$500 to US$1,000 depending on the proposal and reporting format. Eligibility extends to early-career and mid-level journalists (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with proven track record of reporting on the effects of climate change and environmental degradation. Irish Aid — Ireland-Africa Fellows Programme 2020/21

Irish Aid offers scholarships to qualified candidates from Africa to undertake Masters degrees at universities and colleges in Ireland. Awards are made in the fields development studies, rural development, biodiversity conservation, and many other subject areas relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory. The scholarship covers course fees, flights, accommodation, monthly allowances, insurance and other incidental expenses. Eligible countries are Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. United Nations Development Programme — African Young Women Leaders Fellowship Programme

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), invites applications for the African Young Women Leaders Fellowship Programme. The program aims to train and develop the new generation of young African women leaders and experts in designing and implementing development programs in the context of the SDGs and Agenda 2063. A total of 20 women will be selected for a 12-month assignment with UNDP at Headquarters in New York or in a regional or country office. The fellowship will cover expenses related to travel, medical insurance, accommodation, and living costs. Applicants must be nationals of an AU Member State and be under 34 years old. GreenHouse Capital — GreenHouse Lab Accelerator for Female Focused Tech Companies

GreenHouse Lab is a three-month accelerator focused on early-stage technology start-ups across Africa. Participants receive entrepreneurship training, US$100 thousand and access to a global network of mentors and investors. Start-ups must be female-led or female focused. Organic Farming Research Foundation — Organic Farming Research Grants 2020

The Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) offers funding for research on organic farming and food systems and the dissemination of these research results to organic farmers and agricultural and research communities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Priorities are research on soil health; weed control; pest management; livestock health; climate change; social science research; and research on critical issues. OFRF particularly encourages farmers, ranchers, graduate students, early-career researchers, veterans, and extension personnel to consider applying for funding. United Nations University — ProSPER.Net Leadership Program 2019

The UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability is the Secretariat for ProSPER.Net (Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network) in the Asia-Pacific region. The ProSPER.Net Leadership Programme helps its participants to develop interdisciplinary skills for sustainable development initiatives in local, regional, or global contexts. This year’s theme is ‘Engineering Approaches to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Towards Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region’. Individuals from the Asia-Pacific region interested and working in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and management are invited to apply. Fellowships to cover the costs of participation are available. U.S. Department of State — Global Innovation through Science and Technology

The U.S. Department of State announces the notice of funding opportunity for the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) initiative. GIST supports projects that strengthen young innovators and entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by connecting them with American businesses and experts. Proposed projects must address in-country training activities and pitch competitions; interactive online activities; early-stage investment networks; and website maintenance. Funding of US$1 million will be made available. Eligibility is limited to U.S. non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
