The Direct Assistance Program (PAD) is a small development program which works directly with communities in developing countries. The current call for proposals is open to local community organizations in Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, and Guinea-Bissau. Projects can request funding of up to €15 thousand. WWF South Africa — Funding Environmental Conservation in Southern Africa
The WWF Nedbank Green Trust funds innovative projects to solve socio-environmental challenges in South Africa. Projects should focus mainly on South Africa with strong focus on environmental outcomes relevant to the wellbeing of people. The Green Trust will invest up to R3 million over 3 years. Council for the Advancement of Science Writing — New Horizons Travel Fellowships 2019
The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing offers travel fellowships to cover the cost of attending the annual New Horizons in Science briefing for journalists. The annual conference brings together top-rank scientists and leading science reporters for an in-depth look at seminal developments in science. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in the day-long professional workshops sponsored by the National Association of Science Writers. The maximum reimbursement provided is $1,200. European Development Fund — Development of Coffee and Cocoa Value Chains in Uganda
The European Development Fund aims to contribute to the economic development of coffee and cocoa value chains in Uganda. Priority areas includes supporting smallholders to adopt more climate resilient systems and practices, gender diversity in agriculture, and sustainable and organic coffee/cocoa production. The U.S. Department of State announces an opportunity for organizations to submit applications to the Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) initiative. The aim of the program is to grow sustainable and secure energy markets throughout the Indo-Pacific. Katapult Ocean invests in tech companies with positive impact on the ocean. The accelerator program provides investments and mentorship for ocean technology startups from all around the world. The sectors covered by the program include ocean health, fisheries, and energy, among others. Startups will receive a US$150 thousand investment in their company in exchange for 8% equity.
