Mirova — Nature-based Solutions

The Nature+ Accelerator Fund aims to support nature-based innovative solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change whilst delivering positive impacts both on biodiversity and the wellbeing of local communities. The Fund will invest in projects across the following four categories: Terrestrial Conservation and Restoration; Marine Conservation and Coastal Resilience; Sustainable Agriculture; and Nature-Based Innovation (e.g., drone technology, conservation-focused smart apps, etc.). Projects with an early-stage concept may request between US$100-200 thousand, projects that have a proof-of-concept can receive between US$1-2 million, and successful projects looking for follow-on funding to scale-up will receive up to US$5 million. Applicants must be seeking commercial proposals – the funding delivered will be investment capital subject to repayment and returns. The application window closes 31 August 2022. BeChangeMaker Africa — Social Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program

BeChangeMaker Africa is an online training program for social entrepreneurs. Participants gain access to tools and technology for start-ups, coaching, mentoring, and access to a diverse global network of potential investors. Interested social entrepreneurs have to form a team of 2-5 people between the ages of 18 and 35 years and present a social challenge they wish to address. Applications are open until 01 August 2022. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — U.S.-Andean Innovation Fund Grant

The US-Andean Innovation Fund Competition is designed to create and foster partnerships between higher education (HEIs) in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia and the United States that provide new student exchange and training programs in the academic themes of Environment & Climate Solutions, Food & Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and others. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to six grants of US$36 thousand. Higher education institutions in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia and the United States are eligible to apply. World Ocean Initiative — Ocean Changemakers Challenge

The Ocean Changemakers Challenge seeks business solutions to ocean-related sustainability challenges. The challenge is aimed at early-career researchers and professionals, entrepreneurs and innovators with solutions to ocean challenges, e.g. marine pollution, overfishing and overexploitation of marine resources, unsustainable aquaculture, or destruction of ocean habitats. Three finalists will receive guidance from renowned ocean leaders as part of a 12-month mentorship program and present their business idea for a blue economy at the World Ocean Tech and Innovation Summit in Canada (October 2022). The Gorilla Organization — Ymke Warren Memorial Conservation Award

The Gorilla Organization is a UK-registered charity whose mission is to secure the survival of the world’s last remaining gorillas in the wild. The annual Ymke Warren Memorial Conservation Award of £750 is made to African researchers for fieldwork that contributes to the understanding of and/or conservation of wild gorillas and other great apes. Eligibility extends to early-career researchers from gorilla range state countries (Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and Rwanda). TRACE and Alfred Friendly — Investigative Reporting Fellowship

TRACE and Alfred Friendly provide fellowships to strengthen investigative journalism (including reporting on environmental crimes, climate change and others). The program provides training seminars at the Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia (USA). The fellowship covers all costs of program-related international and domestic travel, health insurance and provides a monthly stipend to cover basic living expenses. Candidates must be between 25-35 years old and have at least three years of experience as a journalist at a print, online or broadcast media outlet. World Academy of Sciences — Advanced Research in the Biotechnology

The TWAS-BIOTEC Postdoctoral Fellowship Program offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries who wish to pursue advanced research in biotechnology. BIOTEC will provide a monthly allowance to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. Applicants must hold a PhD degree and may not be older than 40 years. U.S Embassy Bujumbura — Small Grants Program

The U.S. Embassy announces an open competition for organizations and individuals to submit applications to carry out a project in Burundi. Priority program areas include projects that mitigate the effects of climate change, promote minimizing waste and regenerating our resources, and support protecting the natural environment and sustainable agriculture. Programs and projects will be funded with up to US$20 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, academic institutions and individuals. World Academy of Sciences — TWAS-CUI Fellowship Program for Postgraduate Research

The TWAS-CUI Fellowship Program for Postgraduate Research offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to obtain their PhD in natural sciences. Fellowships are tenable in the departments and laboratories of the campuses of the COMSATS University Islamabad (Pakistan). Duration is from six months to a maximum of 3 years (18 months for a sandwich program). CUI will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs.
