Both ENDS — JWH Initiative

The Joke Waller-Hunter (JWH) Initiative offers grants to advance the leadership of young individuals working for or affiliated with environmental civil society organizations in developing and emerging countries. JWH especially encourages the nomination of young women and local community leaders. Grants range from €2,500 to €7,000. The next nomination deadline is 29 August 2024. Details here

MDPI — Plants Awards 2025

MDPI is a publisher of peer-reviewed, open-access journals. The publisher has several awards in the category “Plants.” MDPI currently invites nominations for the Plants Best Paper Award, the Best Plant PhD Thesis Award, the Plant Travel Award, and the Outstanding Reviewer Award. The winner will receive CHF500 in prize money. The deadlines for nominations are 31 August 2024 for the Plant PhD Thesis Award, 31 October 2024 for the Travel Award, 31 March 2025 for the Outstanding Reviewer Award, and 30 June 2025 for the Best Paper Award. UNIDO — Innovative Solutions in Cleantech

Global Cleantech Innovation Program promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in emerging markets and developing economies to address climate and environmental challenges. The program supports start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises with innovative cleantech ideas in establishing and upscaling robust business models. The application deadlines are 13 July 2024 (Nigeria) and 06 August 2024 (Lesotho). Know more

Ashley Lashley Foundation — Global Climate Fund

The Global HEY Climate Fund aims to assist three young climate activists with their projects. The selected projects will receive US$5 thousand each. Applicants must submit proposals or ideas surrounding the topics: Climate Change and Health, Climate Change, Water Conservation and Food Security, Solid Waste Management, and Climate Change. Korea International Water Week — World Water Challenge 2024

The World Water Challenge is an international contest for water solutions. The Korea International Water Week (KIWW) aims to discover imminent water problems and to find feasible solutions. Participants are asked to select a water challenge (identified in the call) and submit their solution. The total prize amount for the World Water Challenge 2024 is KRW 10 million (approx. US$7,600). Winners will have the chance to be invited to the WWCH showcase during the KIWW 2024 and/or the World Water Forum. Individuals or organizations are welcome to participate. Institute for Global Environmental Strategies — Satoyama Development Mechanism 2024

The IGES, the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Studies on Sustainability, and Japan’s Ministry of the Environment announce the latest round of sub-grants under the Satoyama Development Mechanism. The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) promotes the sustainable use of Socio-Ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes. Grants are up to US$20 thousand for field projects; research; collaboration activities; and capacity building and outreach that link ecosystems and community systems on a sustainable basis. Women for the Environment — Africa Leadership Program

Applications are open for the 2025 Women for the Environment (WE) Africa’s Leadership Program. Women for the Environment is a mentorship program for women leaders who focus on conservation and environmental protection in Africa. The program includes monthly online sessions and two in-person retreats for intensive community-building and personal growth. Eligibility extends to African nationals with a minimum of 15 years of experience working in the environmental space in the government, NGO, or private sector. Participants are required to contribute 15% of the course value (approx. US$2 thousand). The deadline for application submissions is 16 August 2024. Link

Future for Nature Foundation — Future for Nature Award 2025

The Future for Nature Award aims to stimulate a new generation of nature conservation leaders. The award is made to candidates of any nationality or residence, not older than age 35, who have achieved substantial and long-term benefit to the conservation status of one or more animal and/or plant species, or that of a specific population. Work-related to the conservation and protection of endangered species is a priority. The award is made to individuals, not organizations. Each of the three award winners will be given a cash prize and a sculpture. The winners are expected to invest their prize of €50 thousand in a conservation project of their own choice. Posterheroes — International Contest about Social and Environmental Issues

Submissions are open for the Posterheroes contest that calls for posters about social and environmental issues. Posterheroes invites students, professional designers, and everyone who is into graphic design to create a poster. Participants can win a cash prize of up to US$2,500. Morris Animal Foundation — Wildlife Fellowship Training

The Morris Animal Foundation provides animal health research funding for applicants from historically marginalized groups. Applicants must hold a veterinary degree at the time of the grant award.
