The program makes high-quality laboratory equipment and supplies more affordable to university departments in low- and middle-income countries. Seeding Labs receives donated equipment from a variety of sources, including research institutions and manufacturers. Applicants submit online requests for items included in the Seeding Labs equipment inventory. Items are mainly for biology and chemistry. The average value of the items included in a shipment, based on the secondary (used) market, is generally in the range of US$100 thousand. The recipient organizations are charged a fee (based on their country’s income level) for program administration, equipment warehousing, equipment packing, and ocean freight. Campus France — Program SIAM 2025
France and Thailand administer SIAM to promote French-Thai research collaboration in subject areas that include energy, ecology and biodiversity, agriculture, and others. SIAM is a program of mobility grants to cover air transportation and related travel expenses up to a maximum of €12 thousand. Project proposals must be presented by at least one Thai partner and one French partner. Belmont Forum — Collaborative Research Action Africa
The Belmont Forum announces the launch of the Africa Regional Collaborative Research Action. The call aims to address knowledge gaps and priorities in addressing climate change vulnerability across the continent. Proposals should include a strong and deliberate linkage between the societal and environmental aspects of global environmental challenges. The Belmont Forum will fund three-year projects. Aquapreneur Innovation Initiative — Water Pollution Challenge
The Aquapreneur Innovation Initiative aims to find innovative solutions to conserve and restore freshwater ecosystems. Aquapreneur seeks high-potential solutions to prevent water pollution and reduce the environmental impacts of contaminated water. Solutions could include advanced filtration, the elimination of wastewater discharges, decision support systems to provide accurate and accessible data for measuring options for both the public and industries, as well as household water testing and filtration. Allianz — Climate Risk Research Award
The Allianz Climate Risk Research Award supports scientific research that improves the understanding of climate change-related risks. PhD students from all around the world who are in the final stage of their research and postdoctoral researchers whose research focuses on reducing the risk of extreme weather events that are intensified by climate change; or fostering resilience by applying technological solutions are invited to apply. Participants compete for awards of up to US$10 thousand to deliver activities that improve lives, help communities, and protect the planet. Roots — Micro-Grants
The Roots Micro-Grants Program supports youth-led projects to empower voices from the Global South to advocate for climate justice. The program provides grants of up to US$10 thousand to initiatives that prioritize climate justice and social equity. The program will provide grants for between 10-15 grassroots youth-led initiatives, with a focus on groups in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.
