Palladium — Challenge Fund
Palladium funds humanitarian relief efforts and supports community projects with the aim to source innovative responses to global challenges. In 2022, Palladium supports organizations that have innovative approaches to valuing nature, or sustainable solutions to getting refugees into jobs with up to AU$75 thousand. JRS Biodiversity Foundation — Information on Freshwater Biodiversity and Pollinator Biodiversity in Africa
The JRS Biodiversity Foundation aims to increase the access to and the use of information for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Sub-Saharan Africa. The current call for proposals requests multi-year projects focused on biodiversity data, knowledge, and information services related to freshwater biodiversity and pollinator biodiversity in Eastern and Southern Africa. Preference is for projects that can grow to larger scale, or that can be transferred across geographic regions or across organizational and institutional contexts. InfoNile invites applications for training, workshop and mentorship on Reporting on Rivers and Biodiversity in the Nile Basin. The weeklong workshop in Uganda will feature presentations, field trips, discussions, practical sessions, and group activities. Successful journalists will receive transport to Uganda and back to their home country, accommodation including meals for the duration of the workshop, and grants to produce their stories. The Biodiversity Partners Program (BiPP) is a training course with focus on biodiversity regeneration and nature based solutions with the aim to support the implementation of pro-nature projects. The program is for organizations (companies, institutions, etc.) and entrepreneurs who develop or support projects that will have an impact on biodiversity. Eligibility extends to Southern African projects holders in Namibia, Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Malawi, Zambia, and Botswana. Participation in the program is free. U.S. Agency for International Development — Biodiversity for Resilience Activity Uganda
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks Expressions of Interest for the pre-selection of local partners for the USAID/Uganda Biodiversity for Resilience (B4R) Activity in Uganda. The (B4R) Activity will provide direct financial support in the form of sub-awards to private sector and other community-based enterprises with the aim to conserve and manage biodiversity in target ecosystems. Awards range from US$50 thousand to US$250 thousand per project for a period of 12 months. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on the Mediterranean Sea (Tunisia)
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists in Tunisia to support the production of in-depth stories on the scale of unsustainable marine management and biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea. EJN welcomes submissions that highlight the impact on coastal communities, including the loss of sustainable livelihoods, the hardships of small-scale fishers, the decline of valuable ecosystems, and the loss of natural and cultural heritage. Mirova — Nature-based Solutions
The Nature+ Accelerator Fund aims to support nature-based innovative solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change whilst delivering positive impacts both on biodiversity and the wellbeing of local communities. The Fund will invest in projects across the following four categories: Terrestrial Conservation and Restoration; Marine Conservation and Coastal Resilience; Sustainable Agriculture; and Nature-Based Innovation (e.g., drone technology, conservation-focused smart apps, etc.). Projects with an early-stage concept may request between US$100-200 thousand, projects that have a proof-of-concept can receive between US$1-2 million, and successful projects looking for follow-on funding to scale-up will receive up to US$5 million. Applicants must be seeking commercial proposals – the funding delivered will be investment capital subject to repayment and returns. The application window closes 31 August 2022.
