The National Geographic Society seeks proposals for artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that support the discovery of new species, bridge biodiversity gaps, and accelerate biodiversity data collection, identification, and classification. Priority will be given to projects that use AI to address challenges in filling biodiversity data gaps, generate data and develop open-source technologies, or use AI and machine learning to process massive and complex datasets. Biodiversity Revisited — Essay Competition
Biodiversity Revisited seeks applications for an early career essay competition. Early-career researchers are invited to share their view on biodiversity conservation or develop a provocative idea on how biodiversity research and practice can be improved. The essays submitted will be part of the discussions at the international Biodiversity Revisited Symposium taking place in Austria (September 2019). The French Agency for Development (AFD) seeks applications from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), preferably in partnership with other international/local non-profit organizations, to enhance the quality of the coastal environment and to contribute in developing the Sri Lankan Blue Economy potential. Proposed projects under this call may focus on, but are not limited to, environmental education, awareness and advocacy, and the preservation of the coastal biodiversity and natural heritage. Natural health food producer Rapunzel Naturkost and IFOAM – Organics International, the international umbrella organization for organic agriculture, invite nominations for the ‘ONE WORLD AWARD 2020’ (OWA). The award recognizes innovative ideas, projects and people in three areas of sustainability, including conservation of nature and biodiversity, organic farming, contributions to stop climate change (energy conservation or use of renewable energy), and waste management. The Pro Natura Foundation makes grants to individuals and organizations for nature conservation in Japan and developing countries. This program is focused on scientific research concerning the conservation of biodiversity and the relationship between humans and the environment. Grants of up to 1,5 million yen are for one year. Mobilise Action accepts applications for the ITC Conference Grants from early-career investigators and PhD students from cost Inclusiveness Target Countries (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey). The grants aim to support researchers to participate to the Biodiversity_Next International Conference that takes place in October in The Netherlands. The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society invites applications for the Asia Conservation Fund 2019/20. The HKBWS funds research, monitoring, education and capacity building related to bird protection in Asia. Higher priority is given to projects which target species that occur in Hong Kong or on the East Asian and Australasian Flyway; and to projects that assist the relevant country in meeting Aichi Biodiversity Targets. European Commission — Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment
The EC announces funding for the Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment – Albania Kosovo. The objectives of the programme are to strengthen good neighbourly relations and foster environmentally friendly and social inclusive economic development of the bordering regions, through the promotion of their touristic potential and respect of its common cultural and natural heritage. The first lot will be allocated to the development of green economy and circular economy, and the second lot to tackling water pollution and promoting climate change adaptation related to water basins. Eligibility for funding extends to non profit legal organizations from either Albania or Kosovo. The grant requested under this call for proposals must be between €420 thousand and €840 thousand for Lot 1 and between €600 thousand and €1.2 million for Lot 2.
