Columbus Zoo and Aquarium — Conservation Grants 2018
The Columbus Zoo makes conservation grants for research, local community involvement, capacity building, environmental education, and behavior change leading to improved conservation of wildlife and habitat. Grant requests may range from US$1 thousand to US$25 thousand, but grants are limited to US$5 thousand for first-time applicants. First-time applicants must submit a pre-proposal. Africa Innovates for the SDGs — Award for African Social Innovators
Africa Innovates for the SDGs invites applications from early-stage social innovators in Africa who are solving pressing problems and key challenges linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. Selected innovators will receive funding to develop and scale their innovations to become financially sustainable. Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science — Biodiversity Fellows Programme
The ICCS Biodiversity Fellows Programme offers participants the chance to spend up to three months at the University of Oxford, writing papers, developing ideas or writing grant proposals. ICCS will cover expenses related to travel, accommodation and training events for the duration of the programme. The Fellowships are for people working for NGOs, government institutions, or in the business environment. Applications from developing country nationals are particularly welcome. The Commonwealth — Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2019
The Commonwealth awards exceptional young people, including entrepreneurs, inventors, environmentalists, women’s rights advocates, and others, who are making a difference in their communities. Entrants must be aged 15 to 29 years and can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. This year’s finalists will receive a trophy, a certificate and cash grants to help them continue their development work. All finalists will be awarded £1,000. Each selected regional winner will receive an additional £2,000, and the Commonwealth Young Person of the Year will also receive an additional cash grant of £2,000. Coady International Institute — Women’s Leadership 2019
The Global Change Leaders Program is a seven-week education program to enable women from developing countries to strengthen their leadership capacities at the Coady Institute, affiliated with St Francis Xavier University in Canada. The program offers successful candidates a full scholarship that includes tuition, travel, accommodations, and meals. Applicants should have at least four years of demonstrated leadership experience in fields such as food security, environment, and others. The application deadline is 30 November 2018. Toptal awards US$10 thousand and a year of mentorship to five future female leaders who want to change the world. The Study/Research Awards are a component of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The program is designed for applicants interested in designing their own projects in various areas of study (possibly within the thematic areas of the Terra Viva Grant Directory). Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens. Program requirements vary by country, so the applicants should familiarize themselves with the program summary for the host country. Each candidate is required to be affiliated with a local institution of higher education, a research/training institute, a think tank, or a registered NGO. International Women’s Media Foundation — African Great Lakes Reporting Initiative
The IWMF created the African Great Lakes Reporting Initiative (AGLRI) to provide training and support for female in-country journalists from the Central African Republic, Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. The aim is to provide necessary funding to independent journalists to cover under-reported issues including issues of empowerment, democracy, food security, and conservation efforts. UNESCO — Capacity Building Program for World Heritage Professionals in the Arab Region
UNESCO ARC-WH invites applications for a capacity building programme for World Heritage professionals in the Arab Region. The pilot workshop aims at building a strong network of experts and will be held from 9 – 13 December 2018 in Bahrain. Participants must have at least 5 years experience working in the field of Cultural and/or Natural Heritage. The costs of the participants is covered by the ARC-WH.
