UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme — World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018

Candidates who wish to attend the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018 under the theme of ‘Protecting Heritage in an Ever-Changing World’ from 17 to 26 June 2018 in Manama (Bahrain) are invited to apply for a conference scholarship. The Forum aims to transmit the values of World Heritage, highlighting the potential that World Heritage education may have for facilitating sustainable development. All travel and accommodation costs for the selected participants will be covered. The organizers will assist in the travel preparations (including visas) and bookings. Society of Wetland Scientists — Youth Art Contest

The Society of Wetland Scientists seeks submissions for its Youth Art Contest. There are two categories: Grades 1 – 4 (artists between 6-10 years old) and Grades 5 – 8 (artists between 10-14 years old). Winners will receive a small cash prize. African-German Network of Excellence in Science — Mobility Grant for Junior Researchers

AGNES seeks applications for its mobility grant scheme for junior researchers to strengthen the scientific capacity and networking in Africa through active co-operation. Selected researchers from sub-Saharan African countries will spend research stays between 1 and 2 months at a university/research institute in another sub-Saharan African country, where they will be collaborating with an experienced researcher. The grants covers travel and living costs, as well as a research allowance to the host institute on request to cover some of the research expenses. The application deadline is 06 April 2018. More

Explorers Club – Scott Pearlman Field Awards 2018

The Explorers Club is a multidisciplinary professional society dedicated to the advancement of field research, and to preserving the instinct to explore. The Scott Pearlman Field Awards are grants for artists, writers, filmmakers, photographers, and journalists in support of scientific expeditions sponsored by the Explorers Club. The winning candidate will receive a cash award of $10 thousand. Applicants do not have to be a member of The Explorers Club to qualify for a grant, and there are no nationality or age restrictions. Biodiversity Congress — Registrations 2018

The 7th International Conference on Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management (26-27 July 2018 in Melbourne, Australia) is a global platform to meet worldwide professionals in environment science, discuss and learn about Ecology and its associated fields. Researchers, scientists, scholars, students and business delegates from all around the world are invited to register and submit abstracts. There is no fully-funded scholarship to attend the congress but applicants receive a discount when contacting the program manager prior to registration (referral code: BCTVG-2018). U.S. Agency for International Development — Women in Science Mentoring Program

The PEER Women in Science Mentoring Program aims to help retain women in science and teach early career scientists to write successful international research awards. The USAID PEER Program invites applications from African Mentor-Mentee Cohorts. Cohorts should be made up of one woman senior faculty mentor and 2-4 women mentees (postdocs and/or junior faculty). Mentors will receive a US$2 thousand honorarium. Mentees will receive training and the opportunity to compete for small seed grants (US$10 thousand) following their participation in the year-long mentoring program. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Evaluation of Pilot Long-term Vision Exercises

The CEPF seeks applications from civil society organizations to submit proposals to conduct an evaluation of three pilot long-term vision exercises for (1) the Balkans sub-region; (2) the Indo-Burma Hotspot; and (3) the Albertine Rift and Eastern Arc Mountains sub-region. The objective of the evaluation is to inform the scope of work for future long-term vision exercises. The evaluation must be conducted during April 2018. International RiverFoundation — Thiess Asia-Pacific Riverprize

The Thiess Asia-Pacific Riverprize invites applications from any organization in the Asia-Pacific region involved in river management, restoration and/or protection. The finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their projects at the 21st International Riversymposium. The winner will receive a cash prize and a trophy. Christensen Fund — Grants for Biodiversity and Cultural Diversity

The Christensen Fund makes grants to indigenous-led and community-based organizations for projects that combine biodiversity with cultural diversity. Pre-proposals are accepted for consideration in the following programs: African Rift Valley; Central Asia; Northwest Mexico; Global; and San Francisco Bay Area. Most grants are in the range of US$50 thousand to US$100 thousand for one or two years. The application period for pre-proposals is 01 August through 31 August. Link

Claves21 — Online Biodiversity Course for Spanish-speaking Journalists

Claves21, in partnership with the Earth Journalism Network, has launched a free online course on biodiversity for Spanish-speaking journalists.The course will begin on March 12th and cover biodiversity science and policy, how to communicate on biodiversity, and digital tools to support biodiversity reporting. The three best final works will receive a cash award, consisting of a diploma and $ 5,000 (Argentine Pesos) for the first place, $ 4,000 for the second place and $ 3,000 for the third place.The submission of a journalistic work is required for the approval of the course.
