Slovak Republic — Slovak Government Scholarships 2023-2024
As part of its program of official development assistance, the Slovak Republic annually awards scholarships to support qualified international students for studies at Slovak universities. The fields of study include ecological and environmental sciences; agriculture, forestry, and veterinary medicine; water resources management; and several others. Eligible countries for scholarships are Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kenya, Kosovo, Moldova, Mongolia, Palestinian Territories, Ukraine, and Vietnam. World Academy of Sciences — Seed Grant for African Principal Investigators
TWAS launches a new program to strengthen the capacity of African countries lagging in science and technology. The program is aimed at young scientists who are getting established in their country or about to return home to an academic position. Under this scheme, grants are awarded to promising high-level research projects in Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Information Computer Technology, Mathematics, Medical Sciences and Physics carried out in African countries. Research Grants to research units are in the maximum amount of US$67 thousand. The grants, which are normally provided for a period of 24 months, may be used to purchase scientific equipment, consumables, which can include fieldwork and maintenance of equipment and specialized literature (textbooks and proceedings). Oak Spring Garden Foundation — Plant Science Research Fellowship
The Oak Spring Garden Foundation awards Fellowships in Spring Fellowship in Plant Science Research to one early-career plant scientist, with preference given to scientists working in organismal plant biology. The award includes a US$10 thousand individual grant and requires a 2 to 8 week stay at Oak Spring (USA). Swedish Institute — Scholarships for South Africa
The Swedish Institute (SI) provides citizens of South Africa with fully-funded international scholarships for master’s studies in Sweden. The scholarship aims to develop future global leaders that will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and contribute to a positive and sustainable development in South Africa. The scholarship is intended for full-time one-year or two-year master’s programs. Expo Live supports novel solutions that address pressing environmental and climate challenges. British Ecological Society — Grants for Ecologists in Africa 2023
The British Ecological Society (BES) makes grants for ecologists in Africa to carry out innovative ecological research. Applicants must be scientists and citizens of a country in Africa or its associated islands; have at least an MSc or equivalent degree; be working for a university or research institution in Africa that provides basic research facilities; and carry out the research in a country in Africa or its associated islands. The maximum value of a grant is £8 thousand for research. An additional sum up to £2 thousand may be requested to fund travel to help grantees develop connections with other ecologists outside their usual peer groups.
