ONE International — ONE Africa Award

The ONE Africa Award honors the exceptional work of individuals and organizations based in Africa to help Africa achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The amount of the award is US$100 thousand, which may be split into more than one prize. Eligibility for the award extends to civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other groups based in Africa that can demonstrate commitment and success in advocacy to promote the attainment of one or more of the SDGs. Johnson & Johnson — Scholars Award Program for Women in STEM2D

The Johnson & Johnson Scholars Award Program supports female STEM2D leaders (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design). The Scholar Award is paid to the university of the recipient in support of her studies and research. Applicants must be assistant female professors or have a global equivalent faculty position at an accredited academic university, institution or design school. Finduddannelse.dk — Sustainability Scholarship

Finduddannelse.dk is a Danish platform for lifelong learning. The platform offers a scholarship to a student for masters studies. The applicant must have been accepted to a masters program and aim to make the world more sustainable through their studies , for example, through clean energy, biology, sustainable agriculture, or any other relevant field. The scholarship offers up to €5000 to help cover tuition fees. Applicants from all around the world are welcome, however, candidates must be fluent in English or Danish. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Georg Forster Research Award

The Georg Forster Research Award supports the work of accomplished researchers who are expected to continue to develop research-based solutions to specific challenges facing transition and developing countries. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The award amount is €60 thousand. Additionally, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25 thousand. Nominations for the Award must be submitted by an established academic employed by a university or research institution in Germany. The closing date for nominations is 31 October 2022. Find out more

TED — Fellows Program for Extraordinary Thinkers and Doers

The TED Fellows Program provides transformational support to an international community of visionaries who collaborate across disciplines (many within the thematic fields of the Terra Viva Grants Directory) to create positive change around the world. TED Fellows are chosen based on remarkable achievement, character, and their innovative approach to solving the world’s tough problems. Selected fellows participate in professional training and mentoring with public relations experts, and attend regional meet-ups and retreats for conservation and exchange of ideas. New York Academy of Sciences — Mentoring Program for Girls in STEM

The New York Academy of Sciences’ virtual mentoring program ‘1000 Girls, 1000 Futures’ and ‘The Junior Academy’ accept applications from female students ages 13-17 from around the world. The program connects STEM-focused high school girls to female science mentors and offers an online community with STEM resources. The program also accepts applications of female scientists interested in mentoring young girls. Students and mentors gain access to a STEM network and receive a free 1-year membership to the New York Academy of Sciences. Applications are due by 30 June 2022. About the program

World Academy of Sciences — Doctoral Fellowships in South Africa

The TWAS-NRF Doctoral Fellowships are awarded to scientists from developing countries (other than South Africa) to enable them to pursue PhD research in the natural sciences. Awarded candidates will be provided partial cost of study funding for tuition fees and accommodation. The maximum duration of the fellowship is 3 years. Eligibility extends to citizens and permanent residents from developing countries on the African continent and elsewhere. The call for applications is open until 08 July 2022. Link to TWAS-NRF

Entrepreneurship Campus — Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition

The Entrepreneurship Campus invites innovative ideas for the Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition to create a culture for entrepreneurship and implement one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Participants are invited to submit their innovative ideas and projects with a societal impact. Entries will be posted on the competition website and are subject to online commenting and public voting. Winners receive a virtual badge and a certificate. Participants from 13 to 29 years who are operating a business, a non-profit organization or an informal program are eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted until 15 September 2022. Amani Institute — Social Innovation Management

The Amani Institute offers a post-graduate certificate in social innovation management that emphasizes leadership, communication, entrepreneurship and management, and creativity and problem solving. Fellows will participate in a 3-month Immersion phase in Nairobi (Kenya). Fellows represent a diversity of fields contributing to sustainable development, including themes related to the environment. Amani offers discounted tuition plus a limited number of tuition scholarships (but excluding airfare and housing) in cases of extreme need. The application deadline for scholarships is 06 May 2022. Swedish Research Council — Starting Grants in Natural and Engineering Sciences

The Swedish Research Council funds research projects of junior researchers who want to establish themselves as independent researchers within natural and engineering sciences. The applicant for a research project grant must be an individual researcher. The applicant must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree.
