The Entrepreneurship Campus invites innovative ideas for the Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition to create a culture for entrepreneurship and implement one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Participants are invited to submit their innovative ideas and projects with a societal impact. Entries will be posted on the competition website and are subject to online commenting and public voting. Winners receive a virtual badge and a certificate. Amani Institute — Social Innovation Management
The Amani Institute offers a post-graduate certificate in social innovation management that emphasizes leadership, communication, entrepreneurship and management, and creativity and problem solving. Fellows will participate in a 3-month Immersion phase in Nairobi (Kenya). Fellows represent a diversity of fields contributing to sustainable development, including themes related to the environment. The Swedish Research Council invites research project proposals within natural and engineering sciences. The purpose of the grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate by themselves the research concept, method and implementation, and to solve a specific research task. World Federation of Science Journalists — Reporting Grant
The Louise Behan Reporting Grant supports science journalists in the Global South who are reporting on matters of interest in their country or region. The grant offers two or three awards of between US$750 and US$1,000 annually. This support is intended to enhance the career of each recipient, as well as to enhance the quality of science journalism in the recipient’s country. Indian National Academy of Sciences — JRD-Tata Fellowships for Visiting Scientists from Developing Countries
India’s National Science Academy administers the JRD-Tata Fellowships to support visiting scientists from the developing world and promote South-South cooperation. The program is open to applicants from developing countries (except India) younger than age 45, and who possess doctorate or masters degrees in science or equivalent degrees in engineering/medicine. Past participants have included several in agriculture, biological sciences, and geo-sciences. The fellowship is for three months and includes transportation, maintenance allowance, accommodation, and contingencies. The application deadlines are 30 April and 31 October of each year. Earth Journalism Network — Introductory Biodiversity Course for Journalists
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) launches an introductory biodiversity course for journalists – “From Microbes to Rainforests”. The online course is self-paced and designed to help journalists reporting on biodiversity to better understand the most pressing issues, from conservation to climate change to synthetic biology. UNESCO — International Prize in the Basic Sciences
The UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences aims to promote and honor excellence in the basic sciences (chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology). Each year, two winners receive a financial award of US$250 thousand each. UNESCO invites the governments of Member States, organizations maintaining official partnerships with UNESCO, international scientific unions and universities to propose individual candidates for the 2022 edition. Candidates must be individuals with major achievements in terms of development, diffusion, and international cooperation in the basic sciences, which led to a significant transformational impact on a regional or global scale. World Academy of Sciences — TWAS-CUI Fellowship Program for Postgraduate Research
The TWAS-CUI Fellowship Program for Postgraduate Research offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to obtain their PhD in natural sciences. Fellowships are tenable in the departments and laboratories of the campuses of the COMSATS University Islamabad (Pakistan). Duration is from six months to a maximum of 3 years (18 months for a sandwich program). CUI will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Tulip Scholarship 2022/2023
Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization for internationalization in education, offers scholarships for studies in the Netherlands. Students from China, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Korea, Russia and Vietnam are invited to apply for studies at selected universities listed in the call. Subject areas include earth sciences, ecology, and many others. The Orange Tulip Scholarship recipients will get discounts on study fees ranging from 30% to 100%, or an offer for living expenses per month (without a discount on study fees). Potentially interested individuals should review the courses and dates offered by the participating Dutch higher education institutions, and information about how to apply.
