Oceans & Lakes — Scholarships MSc in Marine and Lacustrine Science and Management

Oceans & Lakes is an interuniversity master program that provides students with a strong fundamental and applied knowledge in the scientific research and management of marine and lacustrine systems. Through the Flemish Inter-University Council (VLIR-UOS), scholarships are provided for this 2-year master program in “Master of Science in Marine and Lacustrine Science and Management” (Oceans & Lakes). For this specific scholarship, eligibility extends to nationals from the VLIR-UOS partner countries (please refer to the call for a complete list of eligible countries). CRDF Global — Biosciences Fellowships 2022-2023

The Biosciences Fellowship Program provides early to mid-career biological scientists from Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, and Lebanon with the opportunity to spend 6 months working alongside counterpart professionals at foreign universities. Fellowship focus areas include animal, and zoonotic infectious diseases; among others. Ashoka — Fellowship Mexico, Central America, Caribbean

The Ashoka Fellowship selects social entrepreneurs with high impact and systems change projects in Mexico, Central American and Caribbean countries. Ashoka seeks projects with innovative strategies, methods, or new approaches to address opportunities and problems. Initiatives need to solve a problem at the root level and have the potential to generate geographically scaled impact. Applications have to be submitted by 16 October 2021. Ashoka Fellowship

Famae — Sustainable Innovations Challenge

The company Famae seeks innovative and concrete solutions to fight against climate change, everywhere in the world, around waste, water, food, habitat, energy and mobility. Solutions should be pragmatic, efficient, durable, and money-saving to make life easier for urban citizens while reducing their environmental footprint. Individuals, teams, businesses, government entities, universities and organizations are eligible to apply. The maximum award is €1 million which may be allocated to a single exceptional project to cover the production of a prototype. Applications will be accepted until 15 October 2021. Ministry of Economic Affairs Taiwan — Taiwan Excellence Awards

The “Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring” campaign solicits proposals for philanthropic events on issues relating to social concerns and environmental protection. The three best proposals will be awarded US$10 thousand each. The funds for executing each of the three best proposals shall be decided by the organizers, provided that the funds for implementation do not exceed US$150 thousand. Any natural persons or legal persons may submit proposals. Proposals must be submitted by 31 October 2021. Taiwan Excellence Awards

U.S. African Development Foundation — Mandela Washington Fellows Program

The Mandela Washington Fellows Program provides up to US$25 thousand in funding to African-owned, sustainable social ventures. Venture must be based in and operate in Sub-Saharan Africa. Applicants have to demonstrate how the venture will improve and change the communities in which the grants are implemented. Applications are open until 21 September 2021. More info here

International Support Network for African Development — Environmental Education Program

The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) seeks to implement the Environmental Education Program (EEP) to identify environmental challenges in Africa and motivate youth to develop solutions to the identified problems and needs through critical thinking and the application of previously acquired knowledge from subjects in secondary school. The program seeks to provide youth with action competencies that will enable them to develop capacity and long-term commitment to sustainability for everyday life, career engagement or voluntary service as environmentalists or influencers. Each secondary school will be represented by a team of at least five (5) students and a coordinating teacher. ISNAD-Africa will provide technical support, monthly/quarterly meetings, as well as share possible opportunities with the clubs. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Partnerships with China

The BBSRC Partnering Awards aim to set up partnership links between UK and overseas laboratories, promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists, and to promote access to facilities. Funding of up to £30 thousand is available for a period of up to four years for partnerships with Chinese bioscience laboratories. International partnerships focusing on the net zero carbon emissions target, through a sustainable, resilient and bio-diverse agri-food system are especially welcome. Natural History Book Store — Gratis Books in Ecology and Conservation

The Natural History Book Store supports science and conservation by supplying wildlife and environment books and equipment. In its Gratis Books Scheme, NHBS collaborates with other UK-based organizations to donate books on ecology and conservation to worthy recipients in the developing world. Individuals may request a book for themselves or suggest it for others. All applications will be considered together, and the available copies will be awarded to those considered most able to benefit from them. Find available books

Unleash — Incubation Program for Entrepreneurs

UNLEASH Plus is a global 6-month incubation program for entrepreneurs working on social or environmental challenges, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The program provides teams with the right skills, mindsets, and resources to test and launch their solutions, and design them for large-scale impact. Teams will explore real-life challenges within the SDG themes, before defining specific problems and coming up with solutions. The top teams will present their solutions to investors and experts.
