The Royal Society of Biology is the leading professional body for the biological sciences in the UK, representing approximately 14,000 biologists and over 90 organisations. Each year, the Society offers twenty grants of £500 to members for overseas travel in connection with biological study, teaching, or research. World Wide Fund For Nature — Prince Bernhard Scholarships for Nature Conservation 2018

WWF supports professional training and formal studies of individuals working in disciplines directly relevant to nature conservation. Eligibility extends to mid-career nationals from Africa; Asia and Pacific; Latin America and Caribbean; Eastern Europe; and the Middle East. UK Research Councils — Awards for Cutting-Edge Research

The Global Challenges Research Fund invites applications to support cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries. Examples of thematic areas include secure and resilient food systems; affordable and sustainable energy; environmental change; and others. Partnership building between UK research organisations and partners in developing countries is an essential part of this call. Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa — Africa Scholarship 2017

The Gbowee Peace Foundation awards scholarships for postgraduate masters at the University of Dundee (Scotland). Subjects areas include environmental science, energy petroleum and mineral law and policy, and others. The Africa Scholarships are open to female students who are currently Liberian, Nigerian or Ghanaian nationals permanently resident in these countries. Governments of Austria and India — Scientific Exchange Visits

Austria’s Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) and India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST) invite applications for fully-funded exchange visits to carry out joint research. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and thematic areas — including environmental sciences, agricultural sciences, and veterinary medicine. Projects will be supported for a maximum of two years. It is up to the applicants to find their own research partners. CRDF Global — Travel Grants for U.S. Early-Career Scientists

CRDF Global announces the 2017 Catalyzing New Research Partnerships Program. The program aims to catalyze new international research collaborations for U.S. early-career scientists with partners in South and Southeastern Asia; Latin America: and West Africa. The subject areas of interest are biological sciences; geosciences; and others. CRDF will make travel grants up to US$10 thousand for U.S. early-career scientists residing and working in the USA to lay the foundation for new international research partnerships in the priority regions. Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology — Research Proposals 2018-2019

The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMEO BIOTROP) welcomes research proposals in support of its program “Forging Ahead with Tropical Biology for Environmental and Societal Transformations in Southeast Asia.” The focal areas are restoration of degraded ecosystems; sustainable management of intensively-used ecosystems and landscapes; and conservation and sustainable use of unique ecosystems and landscapes of high biodiversity. Proposals should have a budget under Rp100 million, or under Rp50 million for PhD thesis research. The deadline for proposals is 30 August 2017. Link

CRDF Global — Conference of Asia Pacific Biosafety Association

CRDF offers travel support to early-career bioscience and veterinary professionals in Southeast Asia to participate in the conference of the Asia Pacific Biosafety Assocation scheduled for August 2017.  Applications are welcome from individuals in key positions related to biosafety or biosecurity in their respective institutions and regions.   Priority is for applicants from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.  Consideration will also be given to applicants from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. British Council — International Research Workshops

The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers from the UK and partner countries to interact and explore research collaborations.  Current opportunities that have one or more environmental themes include:  (1) communications technologies for disaster management, UK and Turkey, with application deadline on 26 May 2017; (2)  recent advances in energy conservation for buildings in the UK and China, with application deadline on 31 May 2017; (3) detection and prevention of biological invasions, UK and China, with application deadline on 31 May 2017; (4) off-shore wind and wave energy, UK and Turkey, with application deadline on 30 June 2017; and (4) green port development, UK and China, with application deadline on 15 July 2017.  The British Council publishes the dates, locations, eligibility criteria, and other supporting information for each workshop.  Link
