Bosch Business Innovations — CarbonCapture Startup Challenge

The CarbonCapture Startup Challenge is a three-month virtual program designed to support early-stage startups developing innovative solutions in Direct Air Capture (DAC), Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), and downstream applications within the carbon dioxide value chain. Selected startups will receive €15 thousand in funding, mentorship from Bosch experts, and access to a global network of industry professionals and investors. Eligible applicants are early-stage tech startups in the pre-seed to seed stage, comprising teams of 2-4 members with diverse skill sets, and must be registered legal entities. HudsonAlpha — AgTech Accelerator

The HudsonAlpha AgTech Accelerator connects cutting-edge, agriculture technology startups to the coaching, capital, and connections they need to build and grow their businesses. Applications are welcome from startups anywhere in the world and innovating in any area of agriculture. Each startup receives a cash investment of US$100 thousand, office space (in Huntsville, USA), and access to a global network of investors. The application deadline is 23 February 2025. Journalism Fund — Development Grants for Environmental Journalism

The Development Grants for Environmental Journalism supports enabling activities and supporting services for environmental investigative journalism as a whole. The program provides funding to project ideas from organizations and institutions for training and professional development programs. Eligible proposals entail enabling activities and supporting services for environmental investigative journalism in Europe. The total available amount to be distributed among all supported projects will be around €115 thousand. The program is open to legal entities with demonstrable expertise in investigative journalism. GET.invest — Finance Catalyst for Renewable Energy Projects

The GET.invest Finance Catalyst supports small- and medium-scale renewable energy projects and businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean or the Pacific region. The program provides advisory support on project and business plan development, project and business structuring and accessing finance, at no cost. Eligible applicants may be private sector developers, NGOs, universities or research institutions. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Once one round closes a new one opens. Africa Carbon Removal Accelerator — Carbon Removal in Africa

The Africa Carbon Removal Accelerator (ACRA) is a six-month program designed to support startups in Sub-Saharan Africa focused on carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions. The program provides expert-led training, access to a CDR-focused community, and insights into the latest research on sustainable carbon removal technologies. Participants will connect with key stakeholders, including policymakers, investors, and verification bodies, to strengthen their business models and scale their solutions. The program is open to startups across Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on those that demonstrate strong scientific, technological, and business potential. Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation — Renewable Energy and Waste Management

The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) offers grants to private sector entities working on renewable energy and waste management in developing countries. The funding aims to increase access to sustainable energy, reduce emissions from the energy sector, and mitigate marine litter by supporting recycling, reuse, and pollution reduction efforts. The program prioritizes projects in Sub-Saharan Africa and Indonesia, with a particular focus on Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Mozambique, South Africa, and Nepal. Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship — Training for Social Entrepreneurs

The Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship accepts applications for an accelerator program focused on social enterprises working on women’s economic power and/or climate resilience. The program is designed for established social entrepreneurs who directly serve people living in poverty who suffer disproportionately from climate change. Climate resilience falls into one of the following three categories: sustainable energy, availability of sustainable management of water and sanitation, and climate-smart agriculture. Non-profit, for-profit, or hybrid social enterprises that have a clear commitment to an earned revenue model with the potential for scale are all encouraged to apply. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Ebbe Nielsen Challenge 2025

The GBIF Ebbe Nielsen Challenge is an annual competition that seeks to inspire innovative applications of open-access biodiversity data. In 2025, the Challenge will award a total of €20 thousand for advancements in open science that feature tools and techniques that improve the access, usefulness, and quality of open biodiversity data. The Challenge is open worldwide to individuals, teams of individuals, companies and their employees, and governmental agencies and their employees. ClimateCare — Emission Reduction and Removal Projects

ClimateCare finances available to scale work in nature-based projects and energy projects. Partnership applications are open to proposals for carbon projects at all stages of development seeking finance and development support to deliver emissions reductions and improve lives. ClimateCare offers access to finance, technical expertise and access to key market insights. Partners receive support for running on-the-ground project activities that deliver impacts on biodiversity, health and livelihoods. Only partners with projects of a certain size qualify for partnership. Interested applicants can submit a proposal for consideration anytime. Further information here

Sigma Awards — Prize for Data Journalism

The Sigma Awards invite entries of published work in all areas of data journalism, including the topic environment. The winners will split a cash prize of US$5 thousand.
