The Climate Technology Initiative (CTI PFAN) provides funding to climate or clean energy projects. PFAN accepts applications for projects in low- and middle-income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands. Projects may request between US$1 million and US$50 million. Projects providing energy access or rural electrification (clean cookstoves, solar home systems, mini-grids) may request smaller sums between US$500 thousand and US$50 million. Proposals are invited from companies, individuals, or legal persons; public-private partnerships; and entities that are legally structured to redistribute profits. EIT Climate-KIC — AI and Deep Tech for Climate Impact
EIT Climate-KIC invites applications from entrepreneurship support organizations to design and manage accelerator programs focused on artificial intelligence and deep-tech climate solutions. This global call is open to organizations and consortiums, including accelerators, incubators, and universities, that can support at least seven climate-focused startups per batch. While EIT Climate-KIC does not provide direct funding for program implementation, selected partners gain access to a global innovation network, impact assessment tools, and investment matchmaking services to help attract sponsors and co-funding. The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for small grants (US$20 thousand – US$50 thousand) for projects that support the sustainable management of water catchments through integrated approaches for the conservation of threatened freshwater biodiversity in the Mediterranean Basin. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Conservation in the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites letters of inquiry from local civil society organizations to support biodiversity conservation in Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. This funding phase focuses on empowering community-led management of key biodiversity areas and improving the conservation status of priority species. CEPF intends to make small grants of US$50 thousand and large grants of up to US$250 thousand. Eligible applicants include non-governmental organizations, indigenous peoples’ organizations, community groups, and other local civil society entities headquartered in the hotspot. Future Food Asia — Future Fit Asia Innovation Challenge
The Future Fit Asia Innovation Challenge supports startups and academic teams across the Asia-Pacific region that are developing breakthrough technologies in food, health, and environmental biotechnology. The challenge features the Grantham Foundation Detox Awards, which offer US$90 thousand in non-dilutive funding to solutions that eliminate toxicity in natural and human systems. Oppenheimer Generations Foundation — JWO Research Grant
The Jennifer Ward Oppenheimer (JWO) Research Grant supports early-career scientists who conduct impactful research that will provide solutions to some of Africa’s most pressing problems. The proposed research should be focused on the intersection between biodiversity and the economy; environmental tipping points; pollution and impact on the environment; or the impact of basic sciences on sustainable development. A grant of US$150 thousand will support a research project or program for up to three years. Fondation Franklinia — Conservation of Globally Threatened Trees
The Foundation Franklinia accepts project proposals focused on in-situ conservation of threatened trees in the Mediterranean basin. Eligibility extends to any organization with well-established expertise and efficiency in plant conservation. Projects must aim at improving the conservation status of globally threatened tree species listed on the IUCN Red List of threatened species. Funding from the Foundation favors conservation projects with reasonable budgets in relation to proposed activities. A minimum of 20-50% of co-funding will be required. Journalism Fund — Investigation Grants for Environmental Journalism
The Investigation Grants for Environmental Journalism supports cross-border teams of professional journalists or news outlets to conduct investigations into environmental affairs related to Europe. The grant covers working time and expenses such as logistics, travel, insurance, access to legal support, translations, and access to technology and data sets. The total available amount to be distributed among all supported investigations will be around €400 thousand. Union for the Mediterranean — Project Implementation Support
The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) does not fund the implementation of the projects but it assists project development, the search for financial resources, and the search for political and technical support needed for project implementation. UfM promotes a wide range of projects in the Mediterranean region in subject areas that include energy and climate, water, environment, blue economy, and several others.
