British Council — UK Institutional Links with Gulf countries
The Newton Institutional Links support research and innovation collaboration between the UK and partners in any of the following countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. Subject areas for the collaborative research include agriculture, climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, and several others — varying with each partner country. Proposals are submitted jointly by a principal investigator in the UK with a principal investigator in the partner country. Grants range from £50 thousand to £125 thousand over two years. Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation — Scholarships 2018-2019
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2018-2019 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Unitech International — Carbon Footprint Challenge 2018
The Carbon Footprint Challenge is open for ideas and solution to decrease carbon footprint of manufacturing, industrial processes as well as for products throughout their entire value chain. Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research — Small Grants Program
The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research calls for projects that focus on the role of ecosystem services in adaptation to global change for human wellbeing. The IAI will provide funds of up to US$ 200 thousand for international collaborative research networks for 2 years. Co-funding is required to be considered for this grant. The call is organized in a 2-phase selection process. Applicants should submit an initial pre-proposal. Toyota Motor Corporation — Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Program 2018
Toyota makes grants to support environmental activities implemented by nonprofit organizations. The themes are “biodiversity conservation” and “counter measures to global warming”. Grants are made in Japan and internationally. The international program is open to applicants in Japan, and to international partners in collaboration with Japanese groups. Prince Albert of Monaco II Foundation — Climate Change Masters Scholarships
Six Masters Scholarships are available to applicants enrolled in eligible online distance learning programmes offered by the University of Edinburgh in the 2018-2019 academic session. Each scholarship will cover the full fees relating to the Postgraduate Certificate in Climate Change Management. UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education — Fellowship for Water Professionals
The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs is partnering with the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education to fund masters degrees and short courses at Delft University of Technology for water professionals from Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The 18 month MSc programmes include 6 months’ field based research, to be conducted preferably on specific problems in the home country of the participant.The project aims to strengthen the capacity of professionals and decision makers to improve water management in SIDS, and to better address challenges such as coping with climate change. The program announces short courses open to applicants from Africa, Asia, the Pacific region and the Caribbean (countries can be found in the announcement). Future Africa Institute — Early Career Fellowship
The University of Pretoria announces a new Early Career Fellowship that aims to develop research leadership for the African Bioeconomy. The program will require that at least 70% (8-9 months) of the academic year is spent at the Future Africa Campus of the University of Pretoria. Applications are welcome for such topic areas as technological and non-technological exploitation of natural resources, ecological issues and climate change, and others. Emerging research leaders in the natural and social sciences and humanities are encouraged to apply.
