The Energy Small Grants Programme provides funding for renewable energy and energy efficiency in participating countries of the Oceania region. These energy projects should be coupled with strong linkages to biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. Applications are invited from communities, civil society organisations, and private enterprises. The participating countries are Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Research Council of Norway — Research Exchanges and Events Related to Climate Change
Norway’s Large-scale Climate Programme (KLIMAFORSK) is a 10-year initiative on climate research. To foster international cooperation, the program supports Norwegians traveling internationally, international researchers visiting Norway, and events that promote the KLIMAFORSK objectives. International Center for Climate Governance — Best Climate Practices
The Best Climate Practices contest for 2017 focuses on actionable ideas and concrete projects to support urban and/or rural communities in preparing and responding to climate disasters, improving local resilience through enhanced preparedness (ex-ante), and/or capacity to recover (ex-post). The contest is open to individuals, teams, or organizations regardless of nationality, age, or qualifications. The contest winner will be awarded €3 thousand. Energy and Environmental Partnership Mekong — Support for Project Preparation
The Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with the Mekong Region (EEP Mekong) is funded by Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs to improve access to sustainable energy in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. EEP Mekong offers grants to facilitate project preparation in the participating countries. The focus of preparation support will be feasibility studies on clean energy, particularly bioenergy and W2E projects, in both the public and private sectors. Other types of preparation support (cost-benefit analysis, environmental impact studies, etc.) will be considered case-by-case. EEP Mekong will fund up to 80% of the feasibility studies or other preparation costs. Proposed projects should have a minimum capital investment of €500 thousand. European Commission — Kolarctic Collaboration, Europe with Russia
Kolarctic offers funding to projects that contribute to internationalization and cross-border cooperation between countries in northern Europe (Finland, Norway, Sweden) and Northwest Russia. Themes in Kolarctic address environmental protection, along with climate change adaptation and mitigation (among others). Eligibility for project funding extends to private and public organizations from each side of the EU-Russia border. Every project should provide at least 10% co-funding. European Commission — Interreg Mediterannean Program, 2nd Call for Proposals
The Interreg MED Programme calls for modular projects supporting priority axes 1, 2, and 3. These priorities include eco-innovation for sustainable growth; low-carbon strategies and energy efficiency; and protecting and promoting Mediterranean natural and cultural resources. The relevant countries include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro in addition to Mediterranean countries of Western Europe. São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Climate Change — Training and Networking in Climate Change
The São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Climate Change will hold a 2-week training and networking session in July 2017 on the science of climate change. The Advanced School will focus on five themes, and it will be led by speakers from several countries. The School will accept about 100 graduate students and early-career scientists from Brazil and other countries. The Advanced School will be conducted in English. The USAID Private Financing Advisory Network-Asia, the International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy, and the Asian Development Bank announce a joint call for proposals for women entrepreneurs in clean energy.
