The program will work to provide tangible benefits for the vulnerable communities of Lembá and Mé-Zóchi in matters of water supply, rural energy, agricultural diversification, soils management, and forest management. Global Affairs Canada — Agri-Food Value Chains and Adaptation to Climate Change in Haiti
The Government of Canada calls for proposals to promote strengthened agri-food value chains and adaptation to climate change in Haiti. Areas that were severely affected by Hurricane Matthew require increased support to restore agricultural production capacity and infrastructure. Projects should focus on two or three of the departments of Artibonite, Sud, and Grand-Anse. Eligibility for funding extends to Canadian and non-Canadian organizations, including private-sector organizations. Grants will range from $3 million to $15 million. International Council for Science — IRDR Young Scientists Program
The International Council for Science, in collaboration with several partner organizations, invites applications for the IRDR (Integrated Research on Disaster Risk) Young Scientists Program. The program offers scientists under age 40 of any nationality the opportunity to engage with a global network of professionals and practitioners. Benefits include international linkages and the possibility to be invited for additional training. KR Foundation — Reducing Fossil Fuels
The KR Foundation makes grants for environmental communications and advocacy, with a special focus on reducing investment and consumption of fossil fuels. The Foundation aims to persuade investors to divest from fossil fuel industries that deepen the climate crisis, and to invest instead in climate solutions. In parallel with divest-invest, the KR Foundation supports measures that eliminate subsidies for fossil fuels. Grants are to charitable nonprofit organizations. The amount of funding per project typically ranges from DKK 0.5 million to DKK 5 million for projects of up to approximately three years. The next deadline for letters of inquiry is 19 January 2017. Smart Villages — Off-Grid Energy in West Africa
The Off-Grid Energy Challenge invites applications from early-stage energy entrepreneurs in West Africa who are running businesses that generate or can be powered by off-grid energy. Businesses must have at least an existing prototype and business model to enter. The winners of the competition will receive free business, legal, and financial services and the chance to pitch for up to US$5 thousand in prize capital. European Commission — Sustainable Energy in the Philippines
The EC will make grants to increase the availability of electricity generated from renewable energy in off-grid rural and semi-urban communities of the Philippines. The grants will be made in four lots, each with a different objective. Grants are up to €4 million, varying by lots and cost shares. The lead applicants should be NGOs, private or public utility operators, international organizations, foundations, electric cooperatives, or academic institutions in the EU, the Philippines, or other countries eligible under Europe’s DCI regulation. ICMA International — Fellows Program in Environmental Sustainability, ASEAN Countries
With funding provided by the U.S. Department of State, the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is offering an Environmental Sustainability Professional Fellows Program for 50 professionals from Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam). Additionally, the program will select 10 participants from the USA. The fellowships will build the capacity of young leaders to address local environmental sustainability challenges related to climate change, sustainable energy, and environmental justice. Each fellow will spend four weeks working with a local government, organization, or company in the USA — concluding with a final program in Washington, DC. Governors’ Climate and Forests Fund — Requests for Proposals
The Governors’ Climate and Forests Fund currently requests proposals in two thematic areas: (i) enhanced landscape governance and capacity — with application deadline on 15 December 2016; and (ii) jurisdictional partnerships for forests, climate and agriculture — with application deadline on 31 January 2017.
