The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Kiribati. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water and plastic waste management, and other thematic priorities. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Colombia. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as water management and other thematic areas. The average contribution is C$25 thousand to C$50 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations. Bayer Foundation — Women Empowerment Award
The Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award (WEA) recognizes women pioneering in health, nutrition, and related climate-smart solutions. Fifteen female entrepreneurs will get the chance to join the 6-month Accelerator Program and receive €25 thousand in support of their business. To qualify, applicants must center their solutions around health, nutrition, and their intersection with climate-related challenges. The award seeks to support women entrepreneurs driving impactful solutions in the Asia Pacific region, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. The application deadline is 27 March 2024. Alstom Foundation — Project Support for NGOs
The Alstom Foundation invites project proposals from NGOs in eligible countries in the Asia-Pacific region, South Asia, Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa (a full list of eligible countries is provided in the call for proposals). The Foundation supports a range of activities, including support for water supply and sanitation; renewable energy; reforestation; waste management; ecotourism; and environmental awareness campaigns. All projects must be submitted together with an Alstom employee acting in the role of the Project Promoter. (Note: The Secretariat of the Alstom Foundation may offer support in finding a promoter. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Research Fellowship for Brazilian Postdoctoral Researchers
The Capes-Humboldt Research Fellowship supports postdoctoral researchers and experienced researchers from Brazil with their research in collaboration with a host at a German research institution. Fellowships may last from 6 to 18 months and can be divided into up to three stays within three years. The monthly fellowship amount is €2,600. The next application deadline is 31 May 2024. More here

The Savvy Fellowship is a 12-week online learning program for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs. Savvy seeks early-stage businesses and entrepreneurs from across Africa working on solving the most pressing problems through innovation. Fellows will receive support, mentorship, and access to a lifelong community in support of their innovative business ideas. Fellows have to be no older than 40 years. Urgent Action Fund Africa (UAF-Africa) is a rapid response fund that offers financial and technical resources at critical moments of need to African women’s organizations and women’s rights activists. Pulitzer Center — Global Reporting Grant
The Pulitzer Center Global Reporting Grant supports in-depth, high-impact reporting on critical issues that are often overlooked in the media, from global health to climate change. The Pulitzer Center will provide a travel grant of US$5 thousand for a reporting project on topics of global importance. The Grant is open to all journalists, writers, photographers, radio producers, filmmakers, staff journalists as well as freelancers and media professionals from any developing country. United Nations Development Program — Equator Prize 2024
The Equator Prize 2024 recognizes innovative initiatives from Indigenous peoples and local communities that demonstrate exceptional achievements in nature-based solutions for local sustainable development. Nominated projects may focus on solutions for sustainable food systems, restoration of ecosystems that help communities adapt to the impacts of climate change, or protection of terrestrial or marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and wildlife. Special consideration will be given to nominees working on water security and disaster risk reduction. The nominated initiative must have been in existence for at least three years.
