The Halcyon Incubator program equips early-stage social entrepreneurs from all around the world with support to transform their ideas into scalable and sustainable ventures. Ventures may be for-profit, hybrid, or undecided, as long as the core mission is to create measurable social change. (Note: This may include business ideas in agriculture, sustainable energy, or sustainable development.) Ventures structured as ‘non-profit’ will only be considered if they have a product or service they are selling. Partnerships (ventures co-founded and led by two individuals) are eligible. Selected entrepreneurs will receive a $10 thousand stipend per venture for food and living expenses during the residency phase, mentorship, one-on-one coaching, and 5 months of free workspace at Halcyon House. The Green Web Foundation — Green Web Fellowship
The Green Web Foundation seeks practitioners for a paid part-time fellowship of 10 months. Successful fellows will deliver a project that contributes to the digital rights and climate justice movements. Fellows participate in workshops on effective climate communication, digital sustainability and more. Fellows receive a stipend of €6 thousand and a project budget to pay for materials, travel and other expenses related to their proposed project. The call for applications closes on 31 October 2023. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Grants to Improve Resilience and Food Security
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will finance the implementation of a project on “Innovative regenerative agriculture approaches to improve resilience and food security”. The goal is to contribute to more productive and nutritious climate resilient and sustainable agricultural production through the application of regenerative agriculture techniques. The United Nations (UN) welcomes the submission activities that serve as examples of what people around the world are doing to address climate change. For 2023, the Awards seek to highlight the innovative climate action that young people around the world are undertaking to ensure their communities are more sustainable, resilient, and equitable places to live. Innovation for Sustainable Development Awards recognize ground-breaking innovations from Commonwealth countries that contribute to one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Halcyon — MENA Fellowship
The Halcyon MENA Fellowship helps founders and entrepreneurs to build Health, Climate, and EquityTech solutions for impact across the Middle East and North Africa. Fellows receive expert training in Washington, DC, and critical resources to accelerate their venture. EIT Climate-KIC — Sustainable Cities Mobility Challenge
EIT Climate-KIC seeks to decarbonise transport, improve local air quality and accelerate electric mobility in European cities. The call aims to support the transition to cleaner, greener, and more people-centered transport, in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal. Cities and towns (with a population of at least 25,000) in the EU Member States, Horizon Europe Associated Countries (including the United Kingdom) and Switzerland are eligible to apply. Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries — Major Research Grant Development Finance
The Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) Program invites expressions of interest for Major Research Grant projects on the role of development finance in stimulating private sector development, as well as projects related to climate change and environmental compliance. Major Research Grants are grants of £100 thousand or more. There is no formal upper limit, but past MRGs have averaged around £300 thousand. U.S Agency for International Development — Locally Led Development Initiative LAC
The Locally Led Development Initiative seeks to increase sustainability and impact in the areas of regional environmental and sustainable growth; women’s empowerment, and climate change. Concept notes should propose programs implemented in two or more of the following Amazon Basin countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname. Funding ranges from US$250 thousand to US$2.5 million. USAID welcomes concepts from local and regional entities who have a solid understanding of the development challenges facing their communities. Mozilla Technology Fund — AI and Environmental Justice
The Mozilla Technology Fund seeks to fund open source projects at the intersection of environmental justice and AI which are making a positive impact in ecosystems and human communities. Mozilla is interested in convening technical projects that have a firm grounding in environmental and climate justice, sustainability, and ecology.
