The European Commission (EC) seeks to optimize the contribution of land to agriculture, food security, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the preservation of ecosystems in São Tomé and Principe. To achieve this goal, the EC accepts proposals for scalable pilot initiatives that help conciliate different land uses and improve land governance. The overall amount made available is €2.32 million. U.S. Department of State — Support for Environmental Cooperation
The U.S. Department of State announces funding for logistics, meetings coordination, and digital communications to support environmental cooperation between all the U.S. Free Trade Agreement countries. Funding of up to US$197 thousand will be awarded to be used for logistics and meeting coordination support for in-person and virtual meetings, as well as digital communications to promote environmental cooperation programs. Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency — Workshop: Climate Change – Mitigation and Adaptation in Eastern and Southern Africa
Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. The international training program “Climate Change – Mitigation and Adaptation” has a strong focus on agriculture and water resources, planning and communication of climate information. The course is designed for individuals who have key positions in organizations related to national, regional or local community planning, and who are actively involved in strategic decision making. Participants have to be nominated by government organizations, private companies or NGOs in Kenya, Sudan, Mozambique, Zambia, or Zimbabwe. The training program consists of three compulsory phases. Phase 1 will take place in Mozambique (March 2021), Phase 2 will take place in Sweden (April 2021), Phase 3 will take place in Eastern and/or Southern Africa (September 2021). The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management, among other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$10 thousand to C$25 thousand per project, with a maximum contribution of C$100 thousand. ENI CBC Med — Call for Capitalization Projects
The Mediterranean Sea Basin Program is a cross-border cooperation initiative implemented by the EU and neighboring coastal territories. The ENI CBC Med finances cooperation projects with focus on biodiversity conservation, climate change, and pollution for a more sustainable Mediterranean area. ENI CBC Med accepts applications for capitalization projects in the following priority areas: Water Management, Waste Treatment and Recycling, Renewable Energy, Integrated Coastal Zone Management. Climate Tracker — Southeast Asia Media Research Analysis
Climate Tracker seeks people with media experience to co-design a regional media analysis of Coal across Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. The Newton Institutional Links provides grants for research and innovation collaboration between the UK and Mexico. Subject areas for the collaborative research include local development challenges such as extreme weather conditions, access to affordable health care, food and energy security, among others. Proposals are submitted jointly by a principal investigator in the UK with a principal investigator in Mexico. Grants range from £50 thousand to £300 thousand over two years.
