GlobalGiving is an online platform to raise funds for grassroots projects worldwide across many sectors and themes – including in agriculture, energy, environment, and natural resources. GlobalGiving announces a new Accelerator program that will offer virtual training in online fundraising and participation in a two-week crowdfunding campaign. The program is open to nonprofit organizations anywhere in the world. Organizations that successfully complete the GlobalGiving Accelerator by raising at least US$5 thousand total from a minimum 40 different donors will earn permanent membership with GlobalGiving, in addition to $30 thousand in matching funding and bonus prizes. Techstars provides funding and mentorship programs for entrepreneurs. Techstars Impact Accelerator is for for-profit founders building tech to solve social & environmental problems. Programs include Techstars Farm to Fork Accelerator focusing on the tech/digital side of food and agriculture, and Techstars Sustainability Accelerator for entrepreneurs with commercially viable technologies that can rapidly scale to help sustainably provide food and water and address global issues like climate change, among many others. The Wellcome Trust offers nationals of low- and middle-income countries the opportunity to receive training at postgraduate or postdoctoral level. The Trust considers research proposals with focus on a health priority in a low- or middle-income country, which includes exploring the harmful effects of climate change on health. The funding is between £150 thousand and £300 thousand for salary, fees and research expenses. The Wellcome Trust offers nationals of low- and middle-income countries the opportunity to receive training at Master’s degree level. The Trust considers research proposals with focus on a health priority in a low- or middle-income country, which includes exploring the harmful effects of climate change on health. Ford Foundation — Community Rights over Natural Resources
In its theme Equitable Development, the Ford Foundation makes grants to challenge inequality. The sub-theme “Natural Resources and Climate Change” seeks to ensure that indigenous and other communities have secure access to and control over natural resources, and can benefit from them fully. Initiative for Climate Action Transparency — Support for Climate Action
The Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) aims to help countries better assess the impacts of their climate policies and actions. ICAT delivers hands-on support via short, agile projects to governments and provides tailored support to develop effective transparency systems. Country support is delivered through focused and time-bound (12 to 18 months) projects with resources provided for work by national experts or expert institutions, training activities, stakeholder workshops and international expert advice. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Nuffic Scholarships for Short Courses
Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization for internationalization in education, offers scholarships for training courses in The Netherlands. Subject areas include climate adaptation, water governance, and many others. The Nuffic Scholarships at The Hague Academy (OKP, MSP and StuNed) will cover the tuition fee, flights, insurance, accommodation and a small daily allowance. Verra and partners launch the Sustaintech Xcelerator program, a six-month global virtual accelerator focused on developing tools that will improve the monitoring and verification of environmental nature-based solutions. Start-ups, established companies, and academics using emerging technologies to help streamline nature-based carbon credit monitoring are invited to apply.
