The Norwegian Human Rights Fund — Land and Environmental Rights

The Norwegian Human Rights Fund (NHRF) invites applications for the  Land and Environmental Rights call for proposals. Through this call, NRHF seeks to increase support to human rights organisations working with land rights and environmental rights, including natural resources.The call is open to human rights organisations located and working with land and environmental rights in Indonesia, Mexico and Thailand. The amount offered is between US$15 thousand and US$25 thousand for one year projects. The deadline for concept notes is 02 June 2019. Link

RMTI University — Scholarships 2019

The RMTI University offers scholarships for international students undertaking a degree at the University’s College of Science, Engineering and Health. Courses in the Science department include environmental science, food science, biological sciences, among others. Eligible candidates must be citizens of Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore that achieve a minimum of  70% average in their highest level of education award. The scholarship total value is AU$10 thousand. The deadline for applications is 14 June 2019 (Semester 2 2019), and 15 January 2020 (Semester 1 2020). Find out more

British Embassy Lima — Gender Equality, Clean Growth and Media Freedom

The British Embassy, through the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s programme, invites local and international organisations to submit proposals for projects on British Embassy priorities in Peru. There are four thematic areas, including ‘clean growth’ that relates to reducing the use of plastics and initiatives that contribute to making the Pan American and Parapan American Games carbon neutral. The British Embassy in Lima invites project proposals up to £50 thousand to apply. The deadline for the submission of projects is 19 May 2019. Link

 

Unitech International — Carbon Footprint Challenge 2019

The Carbon Footprint Challenge is open for ideas and solution to decrease carbon footprint of manufacturing, industrial processes as well as for products throughout their entire value chain. The challenge is open to students and young employees. Each team must consist of 3-5 people. The winner will receive CHF10 thousand. Ideas can be submitted until 07 July 2019. Find out more

Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Eurasia and Central Asia

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in any one of the following countries: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkmenistan. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is expected to be in the range of C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Larger projects may be considered on an exceptional basis. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions working on local projects. The deadline for submission is 10 May 2019. Find the call

Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation — Scholarships 2019-2020

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Applicants must provide a certificate of their proficiency in Italian language (not required for courses entirely taught in English). Applications must be submitted by 30 May 2019. Pulitzer Center — Data Journalism and Property Rights Grants

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides travel grants to cover hard costs associated with upcoming travel for an international reporting project. The Pulitzer Center seeks applications for data-driven journalism projects related to land rights and property rights. Projects may focus on issues related to indigenous land rights due to the exploration of natural resources, among many other themes. Most awards fall in the range of US$5-15 thousand. Grants are open to journalists, writers, photographers, radio producers or filmmakers of any nationality. Applications must be received in English. The deadline is 31 May 2019. Learn more

UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — Training Program on Greenhouse Gases

UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT is a professional training on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to national experts from developing countries. The goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting and in contributing to climate action. The four-week intensive training course will begin on 22 July and be held in the Republic of Korea. Current government officials, consultants and researchers in the fields of greenhouse gas emissions, emission reductions, and climate change are encouraged to apply. Participants will be provided a return ticket from and to their home countries, as well as room and board for the duration of the training. Applications have to be sent by 10 May 2019. Caterpillar Foundation — Grants for Environment and Basic Needs

Internationally, the Caterpillar Foundation has supported projects in tropical forest conservation and afforestation; water and sanitation; food and agriculture; alternative (low-carbon) transportation systems; urban waste recycling; and other themes related to environment and natural resources. The Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations such as development NGOs, universities and institutes, foundations, museums, conservation groups, and others. Most grants are in communities in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe where Caterpillar has an active presence. National Geographic Society — Alpine Climate Change

The National Geographic Society seeks proposals for its program “Extreme Environments: Alpine Climate Change”. Through this RFP, NatGeo seeks to advance understanding of environmental and societal changes measured in high alpine regions. Projects may be focused around measuring the changing high-elevation environmental conditions, boosting the resilience of vulnerable communities, or climate change storytelling. Preference will be given to to projects led by researchers, conservationists, or storytellers from the greater Hindu-Kush Himalaya mountain system; the Peruvian, Chilean, and Argentinian Andes; and the mountainous regions of British Columbia.
