The Marine Stewardship Council invites fisheries, scientists, NGOs and postgraduates to apply for grants from the Ocean Stewardship Fund. The fund supports best practices in sustainable fishing with the aim to increase the number of sustainable fisheries around the world. Grants are also available to support small-scale fisheries and fisheries in the developing world. Furthermore, the Student Research Grant awards funding to support postgraduate students who are carrying out research with fisheries engaged or working towards the MSC program. Weeden Foundation — Protecting Biodiversity in Chile and Russia
The Weeden Foundation makes grants for biodiversity conservation in forest ecosystems, riparian corridors, and riverine and aquatic environments of ecological importance. Weeden’s international priorities are the Patagonia region of Chile, and the Altai Republic of Russia. The average grant size is between US$15 and US$20 thousand. HawkWatch International — Global Raptor Research & Conservation Grant
The Global Raptor Research & Conservation Grant invests in projects led by citizens of developing countries with the aim of increasing diversity and inclusivity in conservation while building local capacity. Projects must be located in high-priority countries for raptor research and conservation (mainly Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, or Southeast Asia), focus on a single species of raptor, and be led by an applicant who is associated with a registered NGO and/or university in the country where the project will take place. Preference will be given to projects working in low-income countries. Applicants may apply for up to US$2,500. The application deadline is 15 January 2025. More information
South Pole — Nature-based Climate Action Projects
South Pole offers landowners, community groups, conservation organizations, and other groups the opportunity to develop their own nature-based climate action projects. South Pole seeks conservation and restoration projects in forestry and land use that protect wildlife, empower communities, and create sustainable economies, as well as large-scale nature-based solutions for a post-COVID green recovery. Ecosystem protection projects and restoration projects must focus on creating or protecting the habitat of endangered species. Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok — Small-Scale Local Projects in Thailand and Laos
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok invites applications for small-scale development projects from organizations in Thailand or Laos. Projects and development activities in the areas of environment, agriculture, health, education, and social services are welcome. The Czech Republic will provide between US$ 8,500 and US$ 22 thousand per project. Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, or community groups are welcome to apply. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation of Neotropical Migratory Birds 2025
The U.S. Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act sponsors an annual competitive grants program to support the conservation of neotropical migratory birds and their habitats in the USA, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. At least 75 percent of funding supports projects outside the USA. Grant requests have to be matched by partner contributions at no less than a 3-to-1 ratio. Eligibility to compete for funding is unrestricted. Applications should be submitted in English, but the program will accept accompanying versions of the application in Spanish and Portuguese. D-Prize — Funding Entrepreneurs to Alleviate Poverty
The D-Prize funds pilot projects that more widely distribute relatively low-cost products and services in the fight against poverty. The current challenges include social enterprises for innovations in specified themes of agriculture; energy; WASH; and several other categories. The D-Prize will award 30 teams with up to US$20 thousand each to launch nonprofits or social ventures that can distribute proven poverty interventions to people in need. The Network for Social Change supports socially progressive projects in the UK and developing countries. EnAccess Foundation — Innovations for Energy Access
The EnAccess Foundation funds Innovation Pilot projects and Moonshot concepts focusing on providing energy access. EnAccess provides up to US$250 thousand for projects that are ready to be built and prototyped (e.g., hardware, software, business models) and US$50 thousand for ambitious research ideas in the conceptual stage (e.g., analysis and modeling). Our Kids Climate — Climate Parent Fellowship
The Climate Parent Fellowship aims to support parent-led, intergenerational, and family-centered climate engagement work. Fellows receive training, mentorship, and a part-time stipend, which aims to make their climate organizing work more sustainable. The grants will range from US$15 thousand US$20 thousand. Applicants must be over 18 years old but in addition to parent-led climate organizers, the organizers consider all applicants working on intergenerational and family-friendly climate organizing.
