The SDC calls for proposals for innovations in city region food systems that can reach millions of people living in poverty. The proposed projects under this call should focus on small and middle-sized towns (market towns) in developing countries. Eligibility extends to local or international institutions. Woodard & Curran Foundation — Water and Climate Change

The Woodard & Curran Foundation funds innovative projects that apply or advances technology by addressing water issues relating to climate change. One total grant of US$100 thousand will be awarded over three consecutive years. Eligibility extends to US-based non-profit organizations. Climate Smart Nigeria — #Write4Climate Essay Competition 2018

Climate Smart Nigeria, in partnership with Enercate Initiative launches an annual contest in commemoration of the World Earth Day. Young environmental enthusiasts from Africa are invited to submit projects and ideas towards ending plastic pollution. The winner will receive NGN 20 thousand to put his or her project into practice. U.S. Agency for International Development — Nutrition Innovations in Complex Environments

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks organizations to co-create, co-design, co-invest, and collaborate on research and development innovations to prevent and treat nutrition vulnerabilities in complex environments. Areas of interest include innovations to maximize impact across sectors, including health, agriculture and humanitarian assistance. Barcelona Zoo Foundation — Grants for Research and Conservation Projects

The Barcelona Zoo Foundation provides grants and financial aid to research and conservation projects focussing on animal wellbeing and knowledge of species in their environment; applied conservation techniques, both in situ and ex situ, at a global level; and Mediterranean biodiversity. Eligibility extends to individuals and non-profit organizations. Projects may be submitted in English, Spanish, or Catalan. GHR Foundation — BridgeBuilder Competition

The GHR Foundation invites proposals that address urgent global challenges in radically new ways. The BridgeBuilder Challenge to invite solutions that connect peace, prosperity, and the planet. Submissions should target a specific, pressing, and solvable need across two or more of these themes. The competition is open to non-profit and for-profit organizations established for at least one year. Proposed projects should not be longer than three years. Awards are up to US$500 thousand. European Commission — Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Asia

The European Commission calls for concept notes on combatting wildlife trafficking and forest crime in the Greater Mekong Region, Malaysia and China. Submitted projects may focus on strengthening the role of indigenous and local community involvement in combatting wildlife trafficking and forest crime, activities that seek to improve security and livelihoods of targeted groups, and activities that seek to limit demand for Asiatic wildlife and forest products, among others. The overall amount made available under this call is €8 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in a member state of the European Union, in an OECD member country, or in Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. U.S. Department of State — Clean and Advanced Energy Investment Accelerator

The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for a cooperative agreement entitled “Clean and Advanced Energy Investment Accelerator (CAEIA)”. CAEIA aims to remove barriers to the deployment of clean and advanced energy policy in developing countries and to enable and mobilize funding for the deployment of renewable and other advanced energy sources. CAEIA will support a limited number of developing countries that may include Vietnam, Colombia, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, and Kenya. Projects can request up to US$641,975 for 36 months. U.S. Department of State — Protecting Forests

The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for activities under the “Protecting Forests, Sourcing Responsibly” project. Projects should focus on actively developing and implementing REDD+ programs to meet climate and conservation goals as well as reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, and improve rural livelihoods in developing countries. Projects may request up to US$740,740 for 36 months. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
